The "Wide Range Bar" study uses the range of the bar, so it looks to the Open/High/Low/Close information for the bar to determine the range. The Volume study does not have an Open/High/Low/Close, it is just a single subgraph. Therefore, what you are trying to do will not work. For what you are wanting to do, use the Spreadsheet Study and use the MAX() function on the volume over the range you are interested in. This will give you the largest volume in that range.
