You are on a trial, which gives you the full access to the system, so this is not the problem.

The most likely issue is simply that your friend is using a different "Service" than you are, in which case the symbols are different.

To resolve this, open the chartbooks and select Edit >> Translate Symbols to Current Service.

You should be fine after that.
