In the next release, in the Spreadsheet Name box in the Study Settings window for the Spreadsheet study, you will be able to specify the Excel file extension (XLS or XLSM) and no additional extension will be added. The extension you specify will be used. This will resolve the problem. For the record, Sierra Chart does not do anything to protect data in a Spreadsheet in Excel.
