In the next release, in the Spreadsheet Name box in the Study Settings window for the Spreadsheet study, you will be able to specify the Excel file extension (XLS or XLSM) and no additional extension will be added. The extension you specify will be used. This will resolve the problem.

For the record, Sierra Chart does not do anything to protect data in a Spreadsheet in Excel. You should be able to freely copy and make references to it.

You need to manually type in the name of your spreadsheet and extension into the Spreadsheet Name box in the Study Settings window for the Spreadsheet study.

Example: SpreadsheetName.XLSM

We did a test using an older version of Excel and it does work. Although we could not confirm actually saving a spreadsheet with this extension on that version because it is not supported.
