Post From: open intraday chart vs open historical chart

After I choose a symbol to chart, I can choose intraday or historical. I understand the initial difference between the two, namely that historical is downloaded in daily increments and intraday is downloaded at the tick level. But I am confused between the two when I change bar intervals. It seems that either download can be changed into any interval you want. For example, I can change historical downloads into 10 min bars or I can change intraday into weekly bars. Is there a need to initially download a new symbol choosing either historical or intraday, since after the download you can change the bar interval? I understand how dailies can be made from intraday, but do not understand how intraday can made from dailies.

Also if I have two charts (same symbol), how does one know which chart is constructed from intraday vs historical. This is when both charts have lets say the same bar interval. I hope this question was clear... Thanks
