Yes, your analysis is correct. When you are switching services and you close the Data/Trade Service Settings window, it gives you the option to update the symbols, which it sounds like you are doing. But you are correct, this does not flow to the Sub-Instance, as these are completely separate. Therefore, you would need to change the symbols in the sub-instance "manually" after you make the change in the main instance. To do this in the sub-instance, open your chartbooks and select Edit >> Translate Symbols to Current Service. That will update the symbols in all of the charts at once.
