What you are trying to do is the right way to change what is displayed. There really should not be any issue with this. Just to ensure, you have the Profit and Loss column displayed in your DOM, and you have the header that states "P&L" showing at the top of the column. You then have an open position, such that there is a Profit and Loss being calculated for that position. Then you are left-clicking on the letters "P&L" to change the format.
