I just decided to investigate this very question for the exact same reasons, and I think a big reason for much confusion on the part of many users is that the "Save As" does not work if the spreadsheet is detached. It will only allow you to save the chartbook as, not the spreadsheet. I always detach my spreadsheets because I keep them on a separate monitor, but in so doing I lose the ability to Save As. Like the OP, this has caused my much headache many times. I now see that I can simply reattach the spreadsheet, Save As, then detach it again. And of course update the study to point to the new sheet as desired. Perhaps it would help users if there was a File menu on the Spreadsheet detached window itself. |
