That procedure of deleting files does not make sense to us. If there is some issue with the historical data in a Continuous Futures Contract chart, causing the data to be re-downloaded for some unknown reason which would not make sense to us, then just simply follow the procedure here to re-download the data for all contract months: Continuous Futures Contract Charts: Re-Downloading Continuous Futures Contract Data It still reverts to downloading state again on symbol change even after already downloaded previously, Yes this makes sense if there was no data previously downloaded on the current connection or in the case of a historical daily chart if the rules for downloading have been met.
