1. Correct, you do not need to "record" the basic data for a replay, as this information is always recorded/saved whenever you connect Sierra Chart to your data feed. The only data that does need to be "recorded" is the Market Depth. There is no historical Market Depth available yet. Therefore, during a replay it will only show what has been recorded. Refer to the information here: Replaying Charts: Replaying of Market Depth Data 2. It does not matter how you are viewing the data as to what is recorded. The data is stored at the level that you have defined in Data/Trade Service Settings.
