The automatic closing does make sense because in this case the spreadsheet object is being managed by the Spreadsheet Study and if it has a name which is no longer being referenced by a Spreadsheet Study then it automatically closes since that Spreadsheet was automatically opened by the Spreadsheet Study.You really just need to make backups of the different states of your spreadsheet files through the Windows Explorer.
