they cant, have a fixed value per tick , in bitmex you invest dollar but your are payed in BTC, so 1 tick when the bitcoin is at 2000 dollar has not the same valu than if it s at 20 000 dollars. They just calculate your profit and loss with the size of your trade and the rate of change between the entry and the exit, and pay you in BTC , not in dollar.
