You should not normally have to manually try to download historical data. This happens automatically. And if it is not, it means there is some sort of connectivity issue. Follow the instructions here to clear the Message Log: Message Log: Clearing the Message Log Right-click somewhere in the middle of the chart and select Delete and Download Data.
