We updated the documentation about this:

CPU multi-core support for increased performance with historical data downloading, Chartbook loading, and market data processing. A CPU core can run one or two threads. It will run two threads if it supports hyperthreading.

When Intraday data downloading is being done, this is performed on a separate thread. When Intraday chart data is being loaded in a chart, it runs on a separate thread. For some services, market data feed processing is performed on a separate thread and is an ongoing task when connected to the data feed. Intraday chart data file updating is done on a separate thread and is an ongoing task when connected to the data feed. The primary processing of each instance of Sierra Chart, also runs on a separate thread. Therefore, it is advantageous to have a minimum of a quad core system when using Sierra Chart.
