Hello, For some time I have been bothered by target orders chasing. I searched everywhere to figure out why my "Limit" orders were moving after entry, and I think I've found it. I'm not using attached orders. I have the Trade Window open and the order type on the Main tab is set to Limit. Clicking a limit entry below the market enters a limit order, but then chases. The issue, I believe, is that under the Set tab > Max Chase for Chase Limit Orders (Ticks) had a number in it. If you remove the number, there's no chase. One would expect this number to ONLY affect "# Chase" order types, but it appears it affects Limit orders as well. If I have this wrong and there's something else affecting it please let me know. Thanks. |

If you are entering a "Limit" order (not a Limit Chase, or any of the items that have "Chase" in the name) then the Limit order will stay where it is, it will not chase. The setting for the "Max Chase for Chase Limit Orders" only applies when the order is one of the "Chase" order types. You need to look into what is causing that Limit order to move. It is definitely not being caused by the order type if it is actually set to "Limit". Our best guess is that you have a "Trade Management by Study" study on the chart that is causing this. Yeah John, Sorry about that. I had a very long response written, full of details, and troubleshooting and then I a saw a mention of the Trade Window "Menu"(M). So after an hour or so of all that, I figured it out. I was operating under the false impression that choosing "Limit" on the Main tab would initiate "Limit" orders. I understand the issue. Under M, the Order Type Use Limit Chase Orders was enabled. It's honestly been so long since I've been in that menu, I couldn't find it immediately. All good. On another note, when I'm scaling in and out of positions, is there any way to show a line on the chart, or DOM, where my previous, Open Position is? If I scale in a 1 lot, 10 times, and the arrows scroll off the screen, is there any way for me to know what the last Open position is? Let's say I close two of them. That means the 7th order is the next Open order. Is there any way to see that on the chart? Or would I need an ACS? Thanks, and sorry for the false alarm. |

You would definitely need to create a custom study to do what you are wanting, and your study would need to keep hold of the price for each transaction so you can see what you are wanting. That information is not kept anywhere within the system itself. Refer to the following: Automated Trading From an Advanced Custom Study: Getting Order Information https://www.sierrachart.com/index.php?page=doc/SierraChartStudyAndSystemProgrammers.php For the most reliable, advanced, and zero cost futures order routing, use the Teton service: Sierra Chart Teton Futures Order Routing |

I would think you could pull that information from the TAL. It has to track open and closed positions and tie them out. I'll look over what you sent, thank you. But I'm not trying to autotrade from an ACS. If I need an ACS I will have someone build it. I just haven't found time to learn it. Thanks again John. |
