Dear Sierra Team, I want to practice trading but not with real money. So I created another Sierra Chart Instance and changed the Current Selected Service List from "SC Data All Services" to "Trade Evaluator" and "Allow Support for Sierra Chart Data Feeds" to "No". Since my Sierra account is linked to Stage5, as I retrieve the data for Package 11 from there, I’m afraid that real money might be used unexpectedly. How can I be sure that the trades are only simulated with play money? Thank you in advance! |

The only way to ensure that you are not using your live account is to check the "Global Settings >> Data/Trade Service Settings >> Main Settings >> Current Selected Service". If this is set to "SC Data - All Services" or one of the "Trading Evaluator" services, then you are NOT trading with your live account, nor can you. Separately, in that second installation you refer to, you do NOT want to set the option for "Allow Support for Sierra Chart Data Feeds" to "No". That should be set to "Yes", so you get the real-time data into that installation. The only reason to set it to "No" is if you are using a completely separate computer and you do not want to pay a second set of exchange fees. If you do change that item, then make sure you select "File >> Reconnect" to reconnect to the data feed and update the data you are receiving at that time. Hello, thank you for the quick response. I have now set the menu option "Allow Support for Sierra Chart Data Feeds" to "Yes" and "Current Selected Service" to "Trade Evaluator" to do some demo trading. Strangely, my chartbooks are not loading anymore. For example, I wanted to open the ESH25 contract, but it has been showing "Waiting to Download Historical Data" for over half an hour without anything happening. What can I do? I just want to do demo trading in the form of a paper account. Thank you for your efforts.

Make sure you have the correct symbols for the current selected service by selecting "Edit >> Translate Symbols to Current Service". Refer to the following: Edit Menu: Edit >> Translate Symbols To Current Service Keep in mind that if this is the first time using this service, then the system needs to download all the data for the symbols, as the symbols are different. So if you have a lot of days to load, particularly if it is a Continuous Futures Contract, then this can take some time to download.
