I upgraded to the current Sierra Chart version 2720 and once I did, my Type Text configurations would no longer change the text of the currently selected text. I've tried troubleshooting and noticed that the configuration will still save and apply the text colors, font, and so on. Just for some reason it won't apply the associated text with the configuration I choose. Also, if I change the default text setting of TC1, then when I initially place the Type Text tool it will set it to the default text that was saved in the TC1 configuration. But if I select that same text and apply TC2 for example, it will apply all the settings for TC2 except the default text setting. |

We will look this over. This may be by design (recent change) and if it is, we will add a setting, to also change the Text when the tool configuration is applied, to an existing Text Drawing. This may seem unusual, but the implementation of applying, a configuration to an existing drawing, has a common code base for all drawings. So it is not normal, that someone would want to be changing the text on a drawing when applying an existing configuration for example to change the appearance of the drawing. I also would like this behavior changed. I document many many market conditions and associated trades. I have TC buttons set to display text equal to the timeframe of the chart I am documenting and it saves me lots of time to select any text and press the TC button to change the text to "1hour" or "5minutes" or "1000 ticks" for example. It may seem trivial to have to re-type the text but doing that hundreds of times adds up.

There is a setting to control this in newer versions of Sierra Chart: Global Settings >> Tool Settings: Applying Tool Configuration to Existing Drawing Updates Text: Yes Sierra Chart Support - Engineering Level Your definitive source for support. @Knapp-Time If you update to the PreRelease Version 2726, the "Applying Tool Configuration to Existing Drawing Updates Text" setting will be available to you. I was on version 2720 and that setting was not found in my Global Settings >> Tool Settings. I believe that's what was causing our issue. Once I updated to 2726, the type text configurations started working again. Thanks Sierra_Chart Engineering, I believe this issue is resolved. |
