Hello, This was brought to me by a customer that is testing the US Equities consolidated tape data feed. I also confirmed on my end that I am seeing the same thing. Some of the symbols for US Equities Consolidated Tape only having historical data going back a limited amount, compared to when the stocks IPOd. Examples to check: My beginning data date for symbol SEI only goes back to 2024-09-12. The data for this stock is supposed to go back much further than that. My beginning data date for DJT is: 2024-03-26. As a comparison my SPY data goes back as far as 1993-01-29. |

Okay this might be because the symbol moves from NASDAQ to NYSE or the other way around.

We have added additional historical data for DJT. Follow the instructions here: Historical Intraday Data (Missing Data / Download Errors / Viewing More Data): Downloading/Viewing More Historical Intraday Data Regarding SEI there is no additional history available. We checked with another source, and the history goes back to 2024-09-12. Sierra Chart Support - Engineering Level Your definitive source for support. Other responses are from users. Hello SC Engineering. Thank you for the assistance and follow through. I am not seeing the Sept 2024 limitation on other charting platforms. I'm not very concerned with SEI per se however, I wonder if there could be a larger issue. See attached images. |

Regarding post #8, when we are checking for issues like this, we have a look at Barchart data, and also IQ Feed. Here is the chart from IQ feed: https://www.sierrachart.com/image.php?Image=17343220295.png Do you know if there has been a symbol change for this symbol? Okay this data has to be manually combined. We will work on that.

Question on this topic... How does Sierra Chart maintain ticker updates? I am unsure who is the authority on this, I presume the exchange*, however, I ran into this issue with "Neuphoria Therapeutics Inc" who had a ticker change. old >> BNOX new >> NEUP. Do you (SC) receive notifications from an exchange when a ticker symbol changes? Do you have the ability to automate this process? Reviewing data from the provided URL, the changing of a ticker symbol appears to be a common practice. |

For historical daily data, the data from the prior symbol has been added to the new symbol: Sep 12, 2024 old: SOI new: SEI Solaris Oilfield Infrastructure Inc
We will not be making any changes to the Intraday data. Do you (SC) receive notifications from an exchange when a ticker symbol changes? No. We will not be combining data from a prior symbol to a new symbol. We just do not do that. We can do this on request for historical daily data only but we are not going to do it for Intraday data. Sierra Chart Support - Engineering Level Your definitive source for support. Ok, i hear you loud and clear -- Would you mind explaining your position, technical reasons, limitations? I assure you that i am not trying to prove a point here, it is just that I have run into this 3 or 4 times because of the trade-ideas daily swing-trade email newsletters. So, I am new to trading. I am new to Sierra Chart and I am supporting the product to the best that I am able. You (SC) take a lot of hard stances, WE WILL NOT (email alerts for example)... We will NEVER... Perhaps try to understand my position and why I am asking the question could benefit both. |

The combining of data related to post #15 is done. We do not have any official access to stock symbol changes. Not sure where we would get that from. And some sources that might have this data are very expensive. It is a whole integration effort to support them. And it is an involved process to combine data. Also based upon what we have seen, IQ Feed does not do combining of old and new data either, when there is a symbol change. Also, you can do this yourself. If you are aware of a symbol change, simply use the old symbol and then rename it: Chart Data and Chart Data Files: Renaming Chart Data Files There is nothing else to do, the data will be automatically downloaded. What we are going to add support for, is combining data when a symbol moves between exchanges. This can be accomplished because the symbol is the same. And yes, we did have to take a firm position regarding email alerts. Email delivery is just too unreliable, and there are just too many problems, that are out of our control where our mail server gets blacklisted. We would be providing an unreliable service. Instead, there is a much improved method of getting alerts and onto a mobile device: Chat and Communications Platform Sierra Chart Support - Engineering Level Your definitive source for support.
