I am using the foot[rint chart in sc and have the pb column on ...is there a setting to define the pb amount????so for example today in the es there are two instances where the book was swept for large amounts yet the pb column does not reflect it..the times are 10:39:13.461 and 10:3:24.574...these were sweeps for over 500 contracts over roughly 3 or 4 points yet i could not see the net delta of those sweeps in the pb ...yes these sweeps did move up 3 points and then right back down...is there a way to capture these in the pb column...currenlty i can see them in BM...i also see it in time and sales yet not the pb column on fp chart

attached please find a picture of the later time i am speaking about

i am confused and may not be conveying my question properly....here are two different pics 1 ms apart...the 1st pic is before the sweep ...the 2nd pic is 1 ms after which includes the sweep...the sweep can be seen in the time and sale YET the pb column shows nothing other than the delta at the high of the sweep. Why does the delta not show in the pb column....

The Pullback Column resets whenever there is a new high or a new low for the current bar. Refer to the information here:
Numbers Bars: Pullback Column

It does not sound like the pullback column will give you what you are looking for.

I am trying to get the volume , column 2, to have the text black if the volume is 1000 or more, and any volume 999 and under be white.

Set the following Inputs for the Numbers Bars Study:
- Column 2 Text Coloring Method: Based on Volume - Actual
- Use Separate Colors for Text Coloring: Yes
- Range 3 Up Color for Text: Black
- Range 2 Up Color for Text: White
- Range 1 Up Color for Text: White
- Range 0 Up Color for Text: White
- Range 0 Down Color For Text: White
- Range 1 Down Color for Text: White
- Range 2 Down Color for Text: White
- Range 3 Down Color for Text: Black
- Column 2 Actual Volume Compare Thresholds: 0, 0, 1000

Thank you so much for your help John...I have a few other questions

1. Is there a way to highlight the volume, like in the above example you showed, but rather by the % of the volume of the bar?
2. Is there a place Ican get the settlement price of the ES?

1. There are numerous options for coloring the Numbers Bars, including by % Volume. Refer to the following:
Numbers Bars: Text Coloring Based on Volume Percentage

Numbers Bars: Numbers Bars Text Coloring Methods

2. The Settlement Price is the Close of the Daily bar. So if you were looking for yesterday's settlement price, you would open a Daily chart and look at the Close of the bar for September 11, 2024.

Hey John,

First i would like to say thank you for all your help guiding me through all my questions. In an earlier email communication I was asking about the pullback bar and I believe you staed that the pullback bar resets when a new bar is formed...I am not sure I have the settings properly as mine is resetting intermittently and then I am missing some key data for my trading system/style.

I have recorded an event showing this and have attached it in a file. When the pullback resets please pause this and look at the dom on the right and you can see a large trade on the recent bid activity of over 358 at 5718.25 and yet in the pullback column it does not show...I have reveiwed the chart data settings as per the support materials and have the setting to "NONE"...yet it appears that the pullback column is reseting on a new low or new high

Can you please advise me what I have set wrong.

Once agin I appreciate your help.

Mike

The pullback column in the Numbers Bars always resets when there is a new high or low in the most recent bar. Refer to the following:
Numbers Bars: Pullback Column

What are you trying to accomplish? We do not think the pullback column gives you what you are looking for.

The amount of time you have had a chartbook setup has nothing to do with how it will perform. Just keep in mind that over time, you may add items to your charts, which could impact performance.

One, very important thing that we did see in the Message Log when we opened your chartbook was the following:
2024-09-20 12:39:04.599 | Circular chart reference detected. Charts: 8, 2. Chartbook: ES Zones.Cht.

You need to resolve this circular reference. Refer to the following:
High CPU Usage | Inactive User Interface | Poor Performance | Long Time to Load Chart Data | Charts Reloading Often: 30.9 References to Other Charts / Continuous Full Recalculation of Charts

You may have other circular references that have not been picked up by the software. You need to be careful with Study/Price Overlays to ensure that these circular references do not occur.

Also, read through the rest of the items on that same page for things to do to improve performance.

Thanks again John...so quick question if i want an alert for a VWAP when price either equals it or crosses over it ...would the following be the correct thing to enter into the study alert?

=(C>=SG1[-1])

The reason I ask is because i used this and i did not get an alert when the actual price broke the vwap by .01...price traded 5765.75 while vwap was 5765.74... see the first picture attached attached picture for clarity.

Eventually price traded 5766 amd the alert triggered...

Can you please tell me what i am doing wrong

We can not tell by the image, as it is too busy for us. But the condition you use is looking back by 1 bar, so you are checking that the Close is greater than or equal to the VWAP value at the bar 1 back from the current bar.

For what you are wanting, the better option is to use the CROSSOVER() function. This will give you an alert whenever the Close (Last) crosses over the VWAP from either above or below. The Alert formula would be the following:
=CROSSOVER(C, SG1)

Since you are not specifying the ID of the VWAP study, you MUST be entering this alert condition on the VWAP study alert tab.

There are also functions for CROSSFROMABOVE() and CROSSFROMBELOW() that use the same input format. Refer to the following:
https://www.sierrachart.com/index.php?page=doc/SpreadsheetFunctions.html#CROSSFROMABOVE_Function

This was awesome thank you so much...I asked this question before and did not see how to do it and apologize to ask again...is there a way I can show the % of bars total volume at each price point in the bar (range bar)..I am curious if the % can show in the histogram???

I have attached a picture of a numbers bar with an example to clarify my question..this example is ony at 1 price point i would like percentages at all price point..

Once again I am sorry for any confusion.

The Numbers Bars study does not have the option to display the numbers as a percentage of total volume. There is a "Dominant Side Volume Percent", but this is not what you are looking for.

An option is to use the "Volume by Price" study and set the "Volume Graph Period Type" to be "Multiple Profiles Based on Bar Count" and set the "Number of Bars for 'Based on Bar Count'" to be "1".

Then you can use either "Percent of Maximum Volume of Volume Bars" or "Percent of Total Volume" for the "Display Volume in Bars".

Refer to the following:
Volume By Price Study

Thanks John...I may have to have a custom study written for what i am looking for....two more questions...

1. do my target and stops, after trade is executed sit at the exchange level or on my pc?

2. I am looking to add the vix live data to my data packets what exchange would i need to add?
[2024-09-25 15:23:59]
John - SC Support - Posts: 35538
1. Most sit on the exchange. The only ones that would not would be working orders that are specifically set to be "Client" side, such as the "Stop Limit - Client".

2. It depends on which VIX you are wanting. There is the VIX Index (most likely what you are looking for) which is part of the "CBOE Indices" exchange. And there is the VIX Futures, which is part of the "CFE" (CBOE Futures Exchange). In either case, the instructions to setup the exchange you want are at the following link:
