Moving along with my scans, I have a few questions. I have a scan running in my watchlist set up. I have it set to "ASlert once per bar"(30m) But is keep "alert sounding" not stop for the same symbols meeting the condition over and over every second. Am I missing something? Can I create a link to the alert window and a chart so I can look at the alerts in one place? TIA |

It is hard for us to understand what is happening in your case because we do not know precisely what you are doing but if you are scanning through a list of symbols, there is no reason why an alert would sound more than once for the symbol. Do you know why this is the case? It does not make sense to us. Provide us the lines from the Alert Log showing the alert being triggered more than once. We are not understanding this: Can I create a link to the alert window and a chart so I can look at the alerts in one place? Thanks for the help, Yeah I am lost as well. It was working fine when scanning all the Nasdaq and NYSE symbols but that may have been because I was hitting limits I was not aware of. I found a way to use the historical scans and have a refined watchlist scan off off about 20 to 50 symbols now. It uses the same exact scan I was using but it had the alerts sound going off noin stop. The attached pic shows CLSK hitting my conditions a bit before noon. It set off an endless amount of alerts for this next few minutes. It did this with all of the stocks hitting my conditions all morning, non stop alert sounds. I have a study collection that is just for this scan and a chartbook I open, the associated watchlist and run the scan. I did find through my docs reading that there is an option in Chart > settings for alerts but did not want to play with that until I heard back. Thanks, |

I should mention I have 2 different alerts set in the study collection which are very close. That is why you see 2 at the same time for most or all.

I was wondering if there was a way to link the alerts window to a chart , so as scans come in I can just click on the alerts menu symbol and it go to a chart. I know there is a GoToChart but that takes me to the chart being scanned and is unusable (I think?) |

When this problem is occurring is there a scan active at the time or is it just stopped on one particular symbol: It uses the same exact scan I was using but it had the alerts sound going off noin stop. The attached pic shows CLSK hitting my conditions a bit before noon. It set off an endless amount of alerts for this next few minutes. It did this with all of the stocks hitting my conditions all morning, non stop alert sounds.
If the scan has stopped, on CLSK it could be there would be ongoing alerts if the condition goes from true to false and back to true again. Although alert once per bar should prevent that but we still do not know all the details. Sierra Chart Support - Engineering Level Your definitive source for support. Other responses are from users. Not sure, it was doing it for all the symbols. It's a pretty broad scan =AND(ID7.SG1 > 200, (C - L) / (H - L) * 100 > 67, ID1.SG1 > .025 , ID3.SG1 > .025 , C > 7 , V > 230,615) I run it on 30 minute chart with the Alert Only Once Per Bar checked. So should it only produce 1 alert with this rather then the dozens(s) all within a couple minutes? |

Not sure what I got wrong. I redid the entire scan and chartbook from the ground up with the same results. It alerts every second for over 2 minutes even though the alert setting ius "once per bar" . Thanks for any help. |

We are not able to answer this because we do not know what is precisely happening from our perspective. The only thing we can do is add additional logging to indicate if an alert is the result of the scan or real-time. One thing to check is make sure this is disabled in the location where you are setting the Alert Formula: Study/Chart Alerts And Scanning: Reset Alert Condition On New Bar Sierra Chart Support - Engineering Level Your definitive source for support. Hmmm, Not really sure. Been over it a ton of times, It is it's own Study Collection dedicated to the scan with a Color Bar Based On Alert and the alert code set in the conditions box. Seemed to work fine before but now I am adding only a few dozen symbols into watchlist. I definitely do not have the Reset checked but definitely do have Alert Once Per Bar ( this runs on 30 minute bars). But once a stock meets the condition it just non stop alerts every second the entire time until the condition is not met even with Once Per Bar checked. So I am at a loss as to what would cause it to keep alerting unless I am missing some global setting? Not sure. My alerts set in my study collection for charts I am trading does not have the problem. Just the symbols being scanned in the Watchlist. Thanks for the help, |

If a scan is not running the alert evaluation is going to be ongoing. Really not sure what the issue is. But in the next release, there will be an indication if the scan is running when alert is given. Sierra Chart Support - Engineering Level Your definitive source for support. Yeah not sure either. To be clear it alerts non stop with the scan running. Once I stop the scan of the watchlist the alerts do end. But any symbol True to the condition it alerts every second while the scan runs. It was working fine or correct when I was scanning the entire NYSE and Nasdaq markets. It wasn't until I started importing select symbols into the Watchlist that this started. I do like what will be able to do with the scanning and watchlist so hopefully it gets figured out. Not the end of the world to my trading but makes things quicker and easier and on busy days really helps. I'll keep messing with it though not sure what else to try. Thanks for the help, |
