In my second instance of Sierra Chart my symbol and chart settings are not saved. I would like to save my market profile in the second instance with "use evening session". But this change is not saved when changing in the symbol settings or in the chart settings. Every time I reopen Sierra Chart the setting is back to "no". I have already checked the "use custom symbol setting values" box in the symbol settings, but the change is still not retained. Does anyone know what it could be? Thank you |

We are not fully understanding what you are doing. Changing the Symbol Settings does not actually update any given chart. It just sets the default for how a new chart for that symbol will be setup. Also, when you put on a new TPO study, it will be setup to the defaults for that study. You can change the defaults by using the following option: Chart Studies: Using Custom Default Study Settings If the above does not answer your question, then we need more information. Please give us one specific situation and tell us exactly what is occurring. Hello John! I have two instances of Sierrachart running on my VPS. In the second instance i have a chart group where i have different TPO studies. I want the TPO studies to use "use evening/full session" by default. I switch to this session, save it. But the next time i open Sierrachart it opens the chart without the evening/full session. Where can i save my choice so that it opens the next time with the evening/full session? Thank you Best Michael |

The system will save the state of that chart as you saved it, so if you had the option to "Exclude Evening Session Profiles" disabled, then it will be disabled when you open the chart again. Are you not saving the chart with the TPO profile study on the chart? Of course i saved it. But when i change the symbol, it turns the "use evening/full session" off. For some symbols the setting ("use evening/full session") remains the same and for some it changes to disabled.

When you change symbols, the settings are all going to change based on how the "Global Symbol Settings" are set. So if you have a symbol where it turns off the "Evening Session" when you change to it, then you would need to change the "Global Symbol Settings" for that symbol to have the option for "Use Evening Session" set to "Yes". Hello John! Many thanks for your response. As I already described in my first post, the problem is that the changes in the symbol settings are not saved. I did everything exactly as in the instructions. But my settings are not saved. Regards Michael |

So if you Select OK to close the Symbol Settings window and then open it again, the items you changed (such as the Session Times) are set back to the Default values?

Yes. You may think that I'm probably hitting "cancel", but I already know how to use computers and maybe i am not totally stupid. I have described the problem in detail above. The problem is that when used properly, the software does not take over the saved settings. What could be the reason for this? I don´t think it´s me, it´s a bug or a problem with the software. |

We noticed that you stated that you opened a "Chartbook Group" earlier. Chartbook groups are a completely separate set of chartbooks. So if you have a chartbook named "Chartbook1.cht" in a Chartbook Group and you have it individually in your 'Data' folder, then when you open the Chartbook Group you are opening a completely separate chartbook from when you open it individually through "File >> Open Chartbook". We are wondering if this is the issue you are having. And you need to understand that we deal with all kinds of people and we always have to cover the basics. But we are wondering if the Symbol Settings are changing state after you make a change to them. Please let us know. Hello John! Okay, very interesting. If I open the chartbook separately from the folder "...sierrachart/sierrachartinstance_2/data" and save the settings, they remain saved and will be applied the next time I open it. Only when I open the chartbook from the chartbook group are they not saved. Thank you for the tip, everything is clear now. Regards Michael |
