I'm trying to reduce the disk size of Sierra (currently 87GB). I have read the support topic Chart Data and Chart Data Files: Cleaning Up Old and Unused Symbols for Efficiency However since some of the old chart books (that no longer correspond with the post Denali data feed) can't be opened, I'm at a loss of how to achieve the removal of any historical chart data. I would potentially like to keep some of them (some I have deleted, but does the data they collected remain after the chartbook has gone?) In essence, I don't need the historic data. Is there a way I can delete all data pre Dec 2023 on the redundant chartbooks without having to reinstate them first? For instance are their files located within a folder of the program itself? Charts get their data from files on the system. But the data is not stored in the Chartbooks, it is just a reference to the required data. Therefore, removing a Chartbook has no effect on the data that is on your drive. You can certainly remove all data prior to December 2023. Refer to the following: Chart Data and Chart Data Files: Deleting a Chart Data File Note that in the above documentation, step 1 is just to let you find what symbols you are currently using. You do not need to do this if you just want to remove all old data. And if you are getting the data from us for the symbols you are tracking, then even if you remove data that a chart needs, it will be redownloaded.
