Go to Window >> Tool Values Window.
Then go to Tools >> Chart Values/Crosshair.

Hi,

Thanks for the reply.

When I went to Window >> Tool Values Window - A black (empty) box appeared. The empty black box is titled/labeled: "Chart Values For Tools"

What would you do from there?

You then need to activate the Tools >> Chart Values tool:

Hi - Thanks for the reply.

I read what I could under the link but I don't know what you mean by "activate the Tools>>Chart Values tool", but I tried to the best of my ability: I went to Global>>tool settings, clicked on the Chart Values tab and tried ticking on the "Always On When Using Other Tools" box. That did not fix it, i.e. When I go to Window >> Tool Values Window - A black (empty) box still appears. The empty black box is titled/labeled: "Chart Values For Tools".

Please explain what I need to enable when I go to Global>>tool settings, clicked on I click on the Chart Values tab...

Thank you.

This is what the documentation says:

The Chart Values tool displays the values for each graph in the chart at the chart column that you are pointing to. These values are displayed in the Window >> Tool Values Window.

To use or activate the Chart Values tool, select Tools >> Chart Values/Crosshair on the menu. On the chart, click your pointer device left button once to activate the tool and display the chart values for the column that you are pointing to with your pointer device.

To deactivate the tool, click your pointer device left button once.

Thanks for the answers - This all worked great.

I noticed that when my laptop is off line alerts don't work anymore (and I suppose a trailing stop will not work either, and other conditional orders either) and so I'm thinking of having 2 instances of Sierra running, one on a desktop (desktop is on at all times) and one on my laptop (laptop disconnects from the internet from time to time or is off when I'm in transit).

Is this possible on the same account?

You can use 2 instances of Sierra Chart at the same time with the same Sierra Chart account.

I installed Sierra on my desktop computer and on my laptop and used the same account login and password on both instances. When I launch Sierra on my deskptop everything works great, it connects normally to the data feed and stays connected. At that point if I launch Sierra on my laptop as well, it will connect but after it connected the Sierra instances on both my desktop and my laptop will disconnect and reconnect periodically (every couple of seconds or so).

At that point (with both Sierra instances working on each computer but constantly disconnecting and reconnecting every few seconds) if I either turn off the Sierra on my laptop or disconnect the laptop from the internet then the Sierra on the desktop remains connected without any problem (the connect-disconnect every few seconds problem is gone). As soon as both instances of Sierra (one on the laptop and the other on the desktop) connect to the feed simultaneously, both Sierras (one on the laptop and one on the desktop) start disconnecting and reconnecting every few seconds.

Next I moved the laptop to a completely separate network by connecting my laptop to my iphone in hotspot mode (a network completely separate from the cable internet I have at home where the desktop is connected), now with both computer on completely separate network, Sierra is still disconnecting and reconnecting every couple of seconds when both computers are running Sierra at the same time. Even on separate networks, as long as one of the 2 computers is not running Sierra or is not connected to the internet, Sierra connects and remain connected (i.e. it will work only on one computer at a time).

Is there a setting I need to change? Should I ask for a second account?

Thanks,

John

Thanks.

What about Rithmic - do you have the rules for concurrent use of the program for them?

In the case of Rithmic we know that you can use an account from two separate systems. However, the broker has to set this up.

Hi,

I created an alert that triggers on a study. This was working very well and the system would email me on a regular basis.

Eventually the alert notifications stopped. I looked at my Study and under Settings> Alerts and the "Enabled" tick is unticked (?). So I tick it and hit OK, but when I come back to the Settings> Alerts Tab the "Enabled" tick is untick (i.e. ticking this does not stick.

1) What is the purpose of the "Enabled" tick
2) Is it normal that it doesn't stick?

Best regards,

John

1, 2. We looked into this and apparently this "Enabled" setting for alerts is not actually implemented in the version you are running.

As a test, set the formula to "= 1". Do you then get an alert message added to Window >> Show/Hide Alerts Manager >> Alerts Log ?

Hi,

Never mind then since it's actually working for me right now. The sw has generated alerts with emails all afternoon with "Enabled" unticked (since it doesn't stick anyway). The original problem I had preventing alerts must have been something else. I'll just disregard the "Enabled" status until the day it gets fixed. It will be actually dodgy for you guys to turn on that feature since us users might not understand why our alerts don't work anymore. You may want to replace the "Enabled" button with a "Alert Disabled" which is unticked by default (this would be the less disruptive way to address this), just a suggestion.

Thanks for telling me where the Alerts Log is (I was wondering if that existed actually earlier today).

Best regards,

John
