I Followed the instructions and made 2 copies of Sierra Chart to run on one PC. Everything seems to be working fine, but constantly getting "Historical data download complete", "Downloading Historical Data Charts" message. I tried "Delete All Data and download" But now get "Download Error" and chart only shows new bars. When I turn off the second instance of Sierra Chart everything is working fine. What did I miss?

You are not setup to get data from us, therefore you are running into a problem with your data provider not allowing multiple connections. You could use our Denali Exchange Data Feed to resolve this issue, but you need to check with your broker to see if your order routing service will allow you can have multiple connections for trading. For the most reliable, advanced, and zero cost futures order routing, use the Teton service: Sierra Chart Teton Futures Order Routing |

I might actually have not followed all the steps, all i did is install a second instance of Sierra charts and copied all the files, this is not enough to share data right? seems like to share data i have to follow "Using DTC Server for Data and Trading in Another Sierra Chart Instance" to share Data. 8. To share data from the data feeds of the multiple copies of Sierra Chart that you have installed and are running, with other copies/instances of Sierra Chart, refer to the Using DTC Server for Data and Trading in Another Sierra Chart Instance page. |

I am also not sure what the difference between File>>New instance and installing a different copy, I just want to have a different Chartbook on a different monitor, very confused as to what i need.

*Update* Looks like the File>> New Instance is what i might only need. Currently getting the same issue, trying to work through the New Instance help section to see if i can resolve. Maybe if anyone know, I am on APEX trader RITHMIC, have to ask them if they actually allow multiple connections.

They definitely do not allow multiple instances connecting for data. We know this for sure, but we are not certain about trading. Since you just want to have a separate chartbook to put on another screen, "File >> New Instance" is the way to do this. In this case, everything from the additional instance routes through the main instance, so it only shows as a single connection being made. As to the item in Step #8 in the section for additional installations, that is no longer valid, so you did not do anything wrong. For the most reliable, advanced, and zero cost futures order routing, use the Teton service: Sierra Chart Teton Futures Order Routing |

My fix was to create a File>>New Instance instead of a Brand new Sierra chart, working for now

Yes, using File >> New Instance will work in this situation as we described above.
