They definitely do not allow multiple instances connecting for data. We know this for sure, but we are not certain about trading. Since you just want to have a separate chartbook to put on another screen, "File >> New Instance" is the way to do this. In this case, everything from the additional instance routes through the main instance, so it only shows as a single connection being made. As to the item in Step #8 in the section for additional installations, that is no longer valid, so you did not do anything wrong.
