[Feature Request] Is there a reason Crosshair doesn't allow for chart moving?

I have to switch between Crosshair and Hand tool a lot of times through the day and I was wondering why isn't the hand functionality already present in the Crosshair tool? It seems it could have both functionalities in it and would make things a lot easier in terms of navigating charts, so I would like to ask if this could be possible to implement? If there are some specific reasons why this isn't implemented, then ok. Thank you. |

+1 I find this painful as well. It would be nice to have a double-click of right mouse button command to quickly toggle back to the default hand. My issue is mostly between hand and chart calculator tool or chart drawings. |

You can already put these in the right click menu for quick access, this is what I did. But that means I still have to constantly click between them when I'm working on my charts. I don't see any reason why the crosshair couldn't also have the Hand's functionality. It would speed up workflow immensely. |

I was referring to having a single click action (like doubleclick of right mouse button) to take me back to the "default" pointer (either crosshair or hand). thanks user431178 for the link. I could not find the setting I am looking for. I use hand as my default pointer of choice. Edit: Another pain point is a one step Max Zoom in or Max zoom out feature. Dragging the horizontal scale by hand to zoom in and out is getting too old for me! I would love to know if there is a configuration setting for this. Date Time Of Last Edit: 2023-12-01 10:44:35

So having the crosshair feature for the hand tool does not work for you?I was referring to having a single click action (like doubleclick of right mouse button) to take me back to the "default" pointer (either crosshair or hand).
Doesn't exist (as far as I know), I use autohotkey and have the middle mouse button for crosshair and ctrl + middle mouse for hand (autohotkey is used to map the command to the configured keyboard shortcuts).Edit: Another pain point is a one step Max Zoom in or Max zoom out feature. Dragging the horizontal scale by hand to zoom in and out is getting too old for me! I would love to know if there is a configuration setting for this.
Kind of... Set Large Increase/Decrease Chart Spacing Pixels to a suitably large number, then you can jump from zoomed in to zoomed out with a single key press. So having the crosshair feature for the hand tool does not work for you? crosshair feature for hand tool does not drag/drop. regardless, I don't like crosshair Large Increase/Decrease Chart Spacing Pixels Thanks. It allows me to change from 5 to a max value of 2000 and still it takes about the same effort to zoom in/out. Zoom in from left to right drag on time scale takes 3 drag-n-release and zoom out (right to left) take about 8 drag-n-release.

I must be operating in a parallel dimension, one where hand tool with crosshair drags chart exactly the same as hand tool without crosshair.Anyways... For other efficiency hacks autohotkey is a great tool. |

What do you mean Hand tool with Crosshair? I can select either Hand or Crosshair. Hand can drag the chart, but doesn't show me the values at a specific point. Crosshair shows values at a specific point but doesn't let me drag. So if I want to know at which price a (for example) certain line is, I have to change to crosshair, read the value, and then change back to Hand to move around the chart again. I need to check for a lot of lines each day, so changing between them is quite cumbersome. I would love to just have the Crosshair tool on all the time and to be also able to drag the chart with it. For the person who was asking about the Zoom feature. There is an option to select Zoom and select an area on the chart and it zooms in. After you can click the Cancel Zoom and it puts you back. If that is something you could use. I know we should post screenshots from Sierra Chart program, but I only want to show one small segment of the chart with these two custom buttons, and it is here: https://i.imgur.com/Z3vnw1v.png I have it set up like this for zooming, if that would help you. If I have broken the rules, mods can delete this and I will do it the other way. |

Read the information linked earlier (and linked again below), it is 100% possible to have the hand tool active and crosshair displayed. Thank you very much. Don't know why I missed it the first time. It works just as I wanted. Perfect.

Thank you guys. The hand+pointer crosshair combo works for me also. Regarding max zoomin and max zoom out, I want to zoom out the entire chart in one attempt and not some selected portion of the chart. I am aware of the two control buttons zoom in and cancel zoomin. I need one click or hot key to toggle between the two. Max Zoomin to display only one fat bar on the chart. Even one drag/release operation is bearable to toggle or a fast acting operation similar to the fabulous control key+mouse wheel feature available in notepad++ text editor. |
