Hello, yesterday I installed a additional copy of Sierra Chart on my computer under C/SierraChart2 to connect it to a different trade service than my initial installation of Sierra Chart is running with. I got the impression within your documentation that this is the way to go. The two copies of Sierra Chart differ in terms of Graphics Settings etc.. Now I edited the Startup Menu within my SierraChart2 copy and realized later on that my initial Sierra Chart Instance did also changed. As a result, I have two identical copies on my computer. 1. I'd like to set my original copy back to it's original state, just before I changed the Startup of SierraChart2. How could I do this? 2. Am I wrong in having 2 copies of Sierra Chart on my computer for different trade services? Thank you! Lukas |

Let's answer these backwards: 2. This is precisely what you want to do. 1. We are not understanding what you mean in terms of changing the "Startup Menu". And we also are not understanding what changed in your Sierra Chart installations. Thank you John for responding to my questions, by Startup Menu I refer to the settings under Global Settings > General Settings > Startup > Open Files On Startup ... where I have selected specific files/Chartbooks to be opened on startup. These differ in SierraChart2 to my first SierraChart copy. After I edited these files in SierraChart2 those changes came also to effect within my original/first copy of Sierra Chart. Moreover both versions differ slightly in terms of Global Graphic Settings/fonts etc.. So, when I edit settings in SierraChart2 I want the settings in SierraChart to remain unchanged. How could I regain my settings of SierraChart by let's say yesterday? Thank you! Lukas |

This should not be occurring. Any changes in one installation of Sierra Chart should not be impacting another installation of Sierra Chart. How are you starting the different installations of Sierra Chart? If you have setup shortcuts for them, make sure the shortcuts are for the two different installations and that you are not starting the same installation by accident. Also, did you by any chance use any special methods for creating the second installation? Are you using any kind of shared drive between the two installations, or did you setup any shortcuts or links between the folders? I have shortcuts on my desktop for each installation, SierraChart and SierraChart2 and open them by double clicking on the icon. As for the second installation, I followed your instructions in the documentation. Both installations are in individual folders on C drive. I didn't create any particular setup between the folders. Though I had both installations open, in parallel at the same time. Also for the Trade Service Settings, when I changed them in SierraChart2 this also impacted the same settings of my initial installation. |

This absolutely should not be occurring if the installations are in different folders. Are you certain that the shortcuts you have are actually tied to the two different installations and are not both running the same installation? There is no issue with having both running at the same time. Please do the following for us. Open a File Explorer window and go to the installation folder for SierraChart. Start Sierra Chart directly from that folder by finding the executable named SierraChart_64. Make sure the "Global Settings >> Data/Trade Service Settings" are the way you wan them to be. Then use the File Explorer to go to the SierraChart2 installation folder and run SierraChart_64 from that installation. Make sure the "Global Settings >> Data/Trade Service Settings" for that installation are the way you want them. If you needed to change these, then make the change and select OK to close the page. Then go back to the other Sierra Chart that is running (SierraChart) and make sure the Data/Trade Service Settings there are still correct for that installation. Let us know if everything is good in this case or if both installations are copying each other. Thank You John, this instruction was perfectly valid. When opening my initial installation from the file explorer SierraChart_64 it looks like I wanted it to be, unchanged. So both shortcuts were tied to the same installation, SierraChart2. I have no idea how this could happen ... I did follow your instruction and changed Data/Trade Service Settings to different services, now the settings are still correct for each installation. Again, thank you very much! Lukas |
