Having trouble getting study collection to work
I believe if I understand this correctly. I can set up a collection of studies that I can add or delete
And can be applied to any chartbook.
I believe “clean chart” works on all chartbooks.
And right now I believe my tick delta and volume delta studies work on every chartbook. At least the ones I’ve tried so far.

My problem is I have about 15 other studies that I want to do the same with but for some reason some work on some chartbooks while other chartbooks they don’t. Sometimes when the study is clicked from the analysis menu a completely different study is placed on the chart in another chartbook than the original study that is connected with that study collection.

Need some direction on how to figure this out.
I'd send pictures but not sure that would help.

Study Collections work on a single chart - whichever chart is currently active at the time the Study Collection is selected.

The only way that a study would be added to a different chart would be if you have a Custom Study that is setup specifically to do this.

Also, in terms of the studies working on different charts, any study should work on any chart, within reasonable limits. Such as the Numbers Bars study requires that the chart have 1 tick Intraday Data, so if you try to add it to a Daily Chart - it will not work properly. But any restriction is the limit of the study itself and has nothing to do with Study Collections.

Additionally, when you add a Study Collection to a chart, even if the study does not work properly (for whatever reason) the study itself is still added. You can verify this by selecting "Analysis >> Studies" and looking at the list of studies added to that chart.

Given the above, we need to know what the exact problem is that you are having. If you have a single Study Collection that you believe is not working properly, then you can attach it to this thread and tell us what studies are part of it and what should be occurring when we add it to a chart.

to simplify this for me (lol) I'd like to make sure I understand how a single study collection can be used.
1. I open studies window
2. select study price overlay
3. go into settings and select a line chart for example eurjpy that I created previously.
4. I save that single study in the study collection window as eurjpy and add + for its specific feature
5. hit save single

now I'm in the eurusd chartbook. I can easily apply eurjpy overlay to any of the charts in chartbook. It works.
Now I move to audusd chartbook and want to see the eurjpy overlap on all audusd charts in that chartbook.
I go to analysis. click on eurjpy+. either nothing shows on any of the audusd charts or some other chart appears as the overlay.

If you need pictures, I just need to know exactly what you need

Your problem is that you are using a Study/Price Overlay with a Study Collection. The Study/Price Overlay doesn't keep the actual chart information that it was referencing - it just keeps a chart number. So if you open a different chartbook and apply that Study Collection that contains the Study/Price Overlay, it is going to pull the data from the chart that has the same number - or if there is not one, give you nothing.

Here is an example. Chartbook 1 has charts 1, 2, and 3 in it with symbols a, b and c (1-a, 2-b, 3-c). You use a Study/Price Overlay to overlay the bars from chart 1 (symbol a) to chart 3 (symbol c and a).

When you go to a new chartbook, which has charts 1, 2, and 3 in it with symbols d, e, and f, when you use the Study Collection it is going to place the information for symbol d into chart 3. Or, if you did not have a chart #1, then you would not get anything.

Basically, To do what you want, you would have to be rather pedantic and ensure that the charts you want are in the same numbers across chartbooks.

is that possible?
if so, how do I do that?
or is there any study or way that I can create a chartbook of currencies, turn them into line studies, overlay them through the analysis window or any other window by clicking on the appropriate overlay I want on a chart in any chartbook?
or am I restricted to doing separate overlays for each individual chartbooks?

right now, I made delta volume and delta uptick downtick single studies as a line
a single study collection that I can click in analysis and regardless of which chartbook I'm in or chart in any chartbook
I simply click tick delta+ and or vol delta + and the single study applies to every chart

I'm looking for a way to do the same with different currency overlays. I make one single study for every line study I want to apply on every chart in every chartbook and simply click on analysis then click on the one, two and/or five single line studies I want on a chart.

just need some direction on how to do what I'm doing with vol and uptick downtick delta with inddividual line studies I create for different financial instruments

Again, the issue you are having is due to the use of the "Study/Price Overlay" in a Study Collection.

You will not have any issues with other studies that do not reference other charts in a Study Collection when applying that Study Collection to any chart. The reason for this is that the studies do not reference other charts, so they are placed on that chart with the Inputs set as they were when the Study Collection was created, and are calculated for that one chart.

When you use a Study/Price Overlay, the Study Collection is referencing a Chart Number. Therefore, when you place this on a different Chartbook, that chart number may not be what you want.

For those trying to do what I was asking here or who want to simplify their value line studies and collection.
There is a way to achieve what I wanted despite the tech's answers.
And it makes one's charting much easier with a lot less work.

The study that allows one to make line studies and applying them through the analysis tab is
"add additional symbol"!

I was lucky. I saw a video on correlations and in the video the presenter talked about using this
study vs the overlay study.
