SC, I copied a .cht file from my work computer to my home, and my home version of SC, which is up to date and the same as my work (maybe off by 3 version numbers) will not open the file. It says: "The Chartbook file is not a valid chartbook" .. I have attached it privately to this message. Also, I got errors that the SC config file was not valid.

We have opened this file in a binary editor and it consists of nothing but zeros.

We are certain the reason for this has to do with a bug at the operating system level. Not within Sierra Chart.

Use one of your backup Chartbooks. Refer to:

There are also backups of the main configuration file located in the Backups folder.

Wow, that is so strange. I copied the file using google drive and so the fact that it did this is concerning to me. I will do some tests--sorry for the inconvenience.

We have seen this even when Sierra Chart has saved files normally.

We changed the way the files are written so we do not perform a truncate before rewriting the file and instead cut the end of the file off, if necessary, after writing again to ensure the existing data is not reset.

Therefore, in more recent versions, the last six months or so, there really should not be a reason why this would occur. And in the past when it occurred, we do strongly suspect that it is a Windows bug.
