Hi, Quick question - I created Sierra Chart Instance 2 and all the Chartbooks / files were copied from Main Sierra and I saved it. Now when I open Instance 2 and go to Open Chartbook it has all those files. I did updates on chartbooks on the MAIN Sierra and want the same to be copied to instance 2 - how can I do that? I just want to update the files because I did some changes. How do I delete instance 2 and re-create it? or what is the recommended route? Thank u |

The files from the main instance are only automatically copied the first time you create the instance. After that, these are nearly completely separate instances (there are some ties when it comes to trading and where the data comes from, but everything else is independent). Therefore, if you make a change that you want to replicate to a sub-instance, you would need to copy the appropriate file from the main instance to the sub-instance. Refer to the following section, and the section right below it, for more information on the Sub-Instances and how to copy files: Using DTC Server for Data and Trading in Another Sierra Chart Instance: Each Sub Instance is Independent For the most reliable, advanced, and zero cost futures order routing, use the Teton service: Sierra Chart Teton Futures Order Routing |

Thank you very much! Can I have 3 instances? How do I do that? or the number of instances is limited?

Yes you can run as many instances as you want. There is no limitation.

Each time you start an instance it will increment the number by 1. So the first sub-instance is Sub-Instance 2, then 3, then 4, etc. So to get to Sub-Instance 3 you first need to open Sub-Instance 2. Also refer to the following setting that lets you define which sub-instances are started automatically when you start Sierra Chart: General Settings Window: Instances to Run on Startup (Global Settings >> General Settings >> General >> New Instances) For the most reliable, advanced, and zero cost futures order routing, use the Teton service: Sierra Chart Teton Futures Order Routing |
