Hello,

I have checked the SCMarketStatistics page but cannot find what I am looking for and was wondering whether you have any any plans to add this market internal.

For each exchange the number of stocks making a new high for the day and the number of stocks making a new low for the day (or even a net of the two).

I know we have TICKS but this is simply high/low vs the last quote.

Thank you.

We need to understand this:
a new high for the day

So you are referring to a new high during the regular trading hours? When a stock makes a new high, it will begin to pull away from that high. So therefore is that stock still considered to have made a new high, at the moment it has pulled away from the high?

At the beginning of the day, all stocks are making new highs and lows. So this particular market statistic would be rather meaningless at the open and would be meaningless, probably for an hour or two.

You are correct in that on the opening price, the data will be meaningless.

This market internal would be similar to the TICK except that it also checks against the Daily High/Low of the stock which you already have available for each instrument.

So as an example:

APPL
Current price = 100
High for day (Hod) = 101
Low for day (Lod) = 99

If next price = 101,
then TICK = +1
If price > Hod, then 'Do not include if equal to high
Stocks making new high = +1
else
0
end if

If price < Lod, then 'Do not include if equal to low
Stocks making new low = +1
else
0
end if
End if

The logic of this is that in a rising market, stocks should be making higher daily highs.
In a falling market, stocks should me making lower daily lows.

If stocks not making new daily highs/lows, the lines could be zero.

The internal would be available for the exchanges and indexes you mention on your Market Statistics page.

Thank you.
