I'm trying to connect IBKR to Sierra Chart. I already got service package 11. When I go into global settings -> Service settings, should I pick Interactive Brokers (Trading) or SC Data - All Services? If I pick Interactive Brokers (Trading), would I still have the Denali data feed provided by SC? My main concern is that Denali data feed is strictly better than IBKR's data feed, so I just want to make sure that I use IBKR to trade but use Denali data feed for info. Here's the full documentation on how to do this. Some of the info seems to be outdated though. Interactive Brokers Trading Service |

Sierra Chart is specifically setup to get you our data first, if you are setup to get it. Therefore, you will want to be connected to Interactive Brokers to do your trading and you will get the Denali data. But, you do not have the Denali data setup for real-time data. We see that you have completed the Exchange Agreements for the NASDAQ TotalView exchange, therefore if this is the data you are wanting, then you will need to activate (and pay for) the exchange at the following link: https://www.sierrachart.com/UserControlPanel.php?page=DenaliDataFeedNASDAQ#Exchanges Be sure you refer to the information at the following link regarding the NASDAQ TotalView data (in particular how you need to enter the symbols): Denali Exchange Data Feed: Nasdaq TotalView Data Feed Notes Also note that since you have to enter the symbol a certain way, you will have to use the Trade and Current Quote Symbol to enter the symbol as Interactive Brokers wants to see it. Refer to the following: Chart Settings: Trade and Current Quote Symbol (text box) (Chart >> Chart Settings >> Symbol >> Symbol menu) For the most reliable, advanced, and zero cost futures order routing, use the Teton service: Sierra Chart Teton Futures Order Routing |

Hi, thanks so much for the tips!! I thought service package 11 includes the denali data feed? Now I have to pay that and some other thing extra? I'm very confused. I'll check your links more carefully after work. Thanks again!

Here's a screenshot to prove that I've purchased service package 11

Hi, sorry for the triple messages, but I decided to take a chance and purchased/activated the "NASDAQ US stock data 16.00 USD / month" data feed. It still doesn't work. The top of the chart still shows [Sim] instead of [M] like it's supposed to. [Sim] means simulated trading, right?

The [Sim] is for Simulated Trading (which will only be there if the chart has Chart Trade Mode On enabled). The [M] will show up after the symbol in the chart header. Refer to this image: https://www.sierrachart.com/images/AlternateMappedDataFeedIndicator.png In terms of the need to activate the exchange, this is the case. Package 11 does not give you the Denali Exchange Data Feed, it just makes it possible to get the real-time data from the Denali Exchange Data Feed, which needs to be setup, as you have now done. Ah thanks! I reloaded it a couple times and now see the [M] after the symbol. Everything seems to be working as intended. One last little question...so [Sim] is supposed to be there, then? I'm guessing it actually DOESN'T mean "fake trading" like paper trading...I'm only asking because I am using IBKR's paper trading account to test out the features first. Though when I login with the real IBKR live account, the [Sim] is still there, so I assumed this is normal... |
