As you know from previous messages I now have a lot of charts with tick data that go back years(because now at these low levels that's where the new levels from old prices come). Anyway, it now takes forever(say 5-10min) in the morning to load up the chartbooks when I restart for the day. Is that just a function of all the data loading? I would have thought once it was loaded it was there, but I guess not. Also, you know I have a very zippy high-powered computer(Leo from OFL created specs for Dell) so it's not that, nor my internet as I have 500-1000mg fibre. Also, the same thing happens when the computer goes to sleep(say I take the dog for a walk and it goes to sleep after 15min of no use) when I call it back up the hourglass comes on and it takes 5min to reload.

So is all that normal because I have such heavy heavy charts? Any suggestions? The thing is I use the charts all the time so I have to have them up. Thanks for your time, Karen

Compress the data in older data files to 1 or 2 Second units:
Intraday Data File Management

don't be mad, I tried, but look at that link. Nowhere does it tell me how to get to that box called 'intraday data...' normally you have the steps with >> in them. Also, when I get there do I just copy those settings in the example? so 180 days, and 4 seconds?

Sorry, John, you know how stupid I am.

Karen thank you!

We apologize. That documentation page was separated from another page which specified the location of that Window. The new page did not have this. It is now updated.

To open the Intraday Data File Management window, select Global Settings >> Intraday Data File Management.

sorry, I am not sure WHEN I use this. Is this something that must be done every day when I log on and things are taking forever to load, OR, As it doesn't seem like it's a one-off thing, I do that will make everything load fast in future? sorry but I am pretty stupid...

thanks guys, Karen

You do not need to do it every day. It would be something that would be good to do once a month if you can remember. But worst case is to remember to do it when loading becomes slow again.
