How do you scale in on the Trading Evaluator?

I can scale my trades in nicely when I'm on my local simulator, but when using the trading evaluator, sometimes scaling in works and other times it doesn't. It might generator a bunch of different stops sometimes, and other times aggregate the stops/targets automatically.

This is impossible for us to answer. It has no detailed information. We need a lot more detailed information. How the functionality works is documented here:
Attached Orders: Scaling In

You should be able to determine a lot more details about the problem. And explain that to us.

I was thinking there might have been something "special" that was needed to make scaling work on the Trading Evaluator different than the local simulator, or if there was a known issue with scaling on the Trading Evaluator. In those cases, it wouldn't have been impossible to answer.

In similar fashion, it's impossible for me to know what detailed information you need to know in order to address the issue, which is the unsaid question in this inquiry. What detailed information do you need to know? Should I post a video showing how scaling works better on local sim but not on the trading evaluator with the same settings?

The answer to your first question is that it should work the same. There is no reason for it to be different.

Given the above, the logical conclusion is that something is different in the setup when you switch to the Trading Evaluator.

Please give us a screenshot of what you see when you are using the Trading Evaluator and it is not scaling in as you expect.

Here is a screen shot of the chart. I buy 3 futures, but one of them isn't scaled in since there are separate stop and targets.

With that exact same chart selected, open the Trade Window (Trade >> Open Trade Window for Chart). On that Trade Window select the M button next to "Cancel All" and go to the "Orders" sub-section and see if "Scale In" has a checkmark next to it.

From what you are seeing, the Scale In should not be enabled for this chart. You would need to select that option within that Trade Window to enable for that chart. You would need to do this for all the charts from which you place trades, as each Trade Window is separate. Refer to the following on this:
Basic Trading and the Trade Window: Main/C >> Menu >> Orders

The "Scale In" check mark is there. Again, with the same configurations, I'm able to scale in with the local simulator, but with the Trading Evaluator, it's hit or miss, and the scaling is likely to fail when I purchase a bunch of single contracts quickly.

Please give us the chartbook that contains the chart you are working with and let us know the chart number that has this particular problem. We will take a look and see if we can reproduce the issue.

We are not able to reproduce this issue using your particular chart on the Trading Evaluator service. Scaling In functionality works correctly.

Perhaps the problem is you are trying to scale in to quickly. You can only scale in, once there is a position.

If you can only scale in slowly once there is a "position", then I think that is an issue in itself. For example, if I set separate limit orders at the same time and they get filled separately because they are different prices, the one purchased after the other won't be scaled into the first purchase even though a position has already been established. I would like it to be scaled into the first purchase so that they are easier to manage and I don't have a bunch of separate lines on the chart.

The problem relates to there being Attached Orders in a pending state with no quantity and we cannot increase the quantity of those orders until there is a position and they have a quantity themselves.

We will think of a solution.
