Very simple question from a newbie. I've right clicked on a chart and navigated round the Chart settings etc and on this support board. Also FAQs. How can I display Hi, Lo, Close and other info on chart bars ? I click on a bar or hover over a bar and the information isn't displayed. I thought it would be standard but clearly isn't. TIA. |

More info for when a Sierra Engineer has a chance to read/answer this question. I've continued looking around the Table of Contents and putting words like "label" "high" "low" "bar" etc into the search. This must be so simple, but the answer is alluding me. What I'm after is the ability to click on or hover over a price bar and a box or label appears with Hi, Lo, Close etc. Thanks. |

Thanks for the response, though I can't find what I'm looking for on the link you gave me. Could you give me a more specific answer to what I'm looking for please ...eg let me know which boxes to check or uncheck. Thanks. |

No problem with my browser. I don't want crosshairs, they get in the way. I simply want to hover or click on a bar and instantaneously have a small dialogue box pop up and show me the Hi, Lo, Open, Current price, Close of that bar. At the moment I am eyeballing a chart and guessing the high and low of a column, which is just ridiculous. I can't believe how complex it is to just get to implement what I'm requesting. I really thought my request was very simple and basic and that I could find the way to access it through the menus ...which I've been looking through for hours ! |

OK the problem here is that you want it to work a certain way but Sierra Chart does not support exactly what you are looking for. We have provided you the documentation for the functionality Sierra Chart provides for this. The closest you can get to this is to enable Global Settings >> Tool Settings >> Chart Values >> Always Active When Selected. And select the Tools >> Chart Values tool from the menu. Refer to this section here about the Compact Tool Values window which displays the data: http://www.sierrachart.com/index.php?l=doc/doc_Tools.html#ViewingToolandChartData Sierra Chart Support - Engineering Level Your definitive source for support. I don't believe you've read and understood my question properly. What you have suggested is nothing like what I require, which is about the simplest thing that could be asked of a charting package ...ie to point at a bar and be shown IMMEDIATELY what the high, low, open, close and current price of that bar is. That function is on EVERY charting package I've ever used or looked at. I find it almost impossible to believe it's not within Sierra's incredibly sophisticated one. I would be AMAZED if there isn't some simple functionality within your extremely complex software that offers that. Started the 15 day trial today and now extremely frustrated. I might give it one more go and call your offices direct from the UK. Thanks for your help. |

Right, just noted that what you suggested DOES give highs, lows etc ....but it's so far away (below the menu and tabs and in grey) that a) I hadn't noticed it before and just saw it by pure fluke and b) it's incredibly inconvenient. At least I can see what the values are now, albeit takes my eyes away from the bars. It's incredible that nobody else finds that a problem ...surely you want a box to pop up really close to a bar, on request. Love the software, but fear it's a deal breaker. Shame. |

Rather than writing all that you have in this thread, it would be best to take the time to clearly refer to the documentation. You completely disregarded this: Refer to this section here about the Compact Tool Values window which displays the data: http://www.sierrachart.com/index.php?l=doc/doc_Tools.html#ViewingToolandChartData The data is displayed in the Compact Tool Values Window . The documentation explains how to open/view that window. No need to look at the status bar. Eventually the status bar will be removed. Great, exactly what I want and first asked for. I'm not sure who the compact tool is, you or me. Kiss and make up ? |

Fun thread. Hope everybody has recovered. That was tense. I'm here to shake the tree some more but I have a temporary solution, so I promise to be gentle... I wanted to mark the chart by placing a box (like the chart values for tools with just OHLC) on various candles on the chart for printing purposes. The image attached shows my solution. I created a custom button called Price Label and used the Custom Tool feature to select Chart Calculator and a Tool Config that only selects Price [EV]. This allows me to label a candle rather quickly, but still 400% more clicks than I would like to take. I feel I should be able to draw one line and have a box appear that I can configure with things like date, OHLC, and perhaps other things on the chart value for tools and chart calculator... That way, I could quickly label a few important candles, generate an image and post it/print it, whatever. 1) Thoughts on how to do this better? 2) I have attached a screenshot showing what I have done. Notice that even though the chart calculator has snapped to position selected, it gives different values for OHLC than are presented in the Chart Value for Tools window. Thanks Guys. Sierra Chart rocks. Even if it doesn't yet let me drag a tweet onto the screen, expand the tweet to make it beautiful and make it appear over a candle with the specific date and time like Tradingview does: https://www.tradingview.com/blog/en/tweets-on-the-chart-25072/ And I can't yet search for anything in the menu or dialogs like I can on my iPhone settings, but I still find it very powerful... Really appreciate the work you have done. |

Just Curious, is there any possibility of this feature being developed in the coming future? It will be very helpful if the compact tools value window can come up when you hover on the candle. Thanks
