OS error connecting to Rithmic

Error log shown below. I'm trying to set this up for the first time and have triple checked the credentials which have been verified by the broker. I have opened up port 443 and also disabled the firewall completely, with the same result each time.

Can you see what the issue might be?

Hi Sierra Charts support.

Rithmic asked me to install their R Trader app to test the connectivity with their servers, and that worked fine. So everything checks out at their end and with connectivity from my PC.

Is there any other setting within Sierra Chart I should look at?

We will contact them about this. We do not know what the cause of "OS Error" is. It is not any setting within Sierra Chart that it relates to. If strictly has to do with their software.

Rithmic have not been able to resolve this problem. I have been able to access the Rithmic data service from their R Trader app, and I have also been able to run Sierra Chart and accessed the Rithmic data service from my old laptop. The difference is that the laptop has Kaspersky AV whereas my PC has F-Secure. So it seems that F-Secure is blocking the data. I have looked extensively at F-Secure and turned off every separate element of the system, without success.

Can you help with this? This seems to be a Sierra issue rather than Rithmic as is seems to be the specific process which Sierra is using which is being blocked.

Can you provide access to a different data service to check this?

We fully understand the nature of the problem and this is a very good reason why we do not want to use what are known as client-side API (Application program interface) components. The connection to Rithmic uses what is known as an API component. We have 0% control over it. We explain our position here:

To prove that Sierra Chart is not the issue here at all, use the Sierra Chart Real-Time and Historical Forex/CFD Data Service:

You will find you can connect immediately with no problem. Please confirm this to us.

Our suggestion, is to uninstall your F-Secure program to see if it makes a difference.

According to Rithmic the R Trader program does not use the same API component that they provide us. That program was developed before their API was developed.

Understood, thanks for explaining that.

I've tried the SC Forex data and that works fine ~ so the simple solution is for me to change my AV system!
