Hello,

Every time I open my pc I receive an e-mail alert and Alert manager pops up. But I don't have any active alerts. As far as I know I deactivated them all. I opted out my e-mail recently to at least stop receiving e-mails (this is second question - how to activate this e-mail address when we solve this problem so I can use this e-mail for real alerts once again?).
Alert log attached.
Please help.

You have an alert configured somewhere. If that is a simple alert, you should be able to select the alert and then select Goto Chart at the top of the Alert Log and it will take you to the chart that has the alert.

In the end, you will have to find where the alert is coming from and turn off the alert.

Thanks for quick reply.
I tried with Goto Chart but nothing happens, it does not open any other chart or chartbook. It always stays on active Chartbook. Is there a way to know in what chart alert is triggered?

Can you give us a screenshot showing the entire Alert Log. It is not showing what we are expecting.

I turned off alert that was triggered with CountDown timer. But I don't know what is triggering everything else on the list. I opened all ChartBooks and Goto Chart is not opening anything.
Alert Manager log in attachment.

This looks like the alert is coming from a custom study on one of the charts.

Restart Sierra Chart and enable Safe Mode on the login window. See if that stops the alert.

It really makes no sense that there would be a message of type "Info" with that particular text you are seeing. We do not see how that is possible.

I really don't know what is possible or not. I tried everything on my end to stop this annoying alert but I didn’t succeed. That’s when I contacted you. What can we do to solve this? Can I try something else? Is it possible to reset Sierra Chart and then import all the settings (Charts, Chartbooks, additional studies, brokers connections…)?

What you can do is reset Sierra Chart to a default configuration:
Resetting Sierra Chart to a Default State / Restoring Backup Global Configuration File

This will not affect your charts, Chartbooks or any additional studies. You will have to reconfigure Sierra Chart to connect to your Trading service.

The problem is we do not think this is going to make a difference and are quite puzzled by the message you are getting.

If you do not think resetting will make a difference then I won’t do it. It seams complicated anyway. I’ve seen Remote assistance on start up window, can you connect to my pc and see from “inside”?

Yes we can do remote assistance, but it is easiest for us to work through this Support Board first.

We want you to close All Chartbooks with File >> Close All Chartbooks. After that do you still notice this alert being added to Alert Log?

If so select File >> Disconnect. Do you then still notice this alert being added to the Alert Log?

Yes, I still notice alerts after closing all chartbooks (attach 1).
The moment I Disconected I received alerts (attach 2).
But then, after I put my pc to sleep and waking up, there were no alerts any more. Before, there were always alerts after waking up.
Thanks for trying to find solution.

Therefore, these alerts must be related to data feed connections. Although we still cannot determine the particular messages we are seeing as originating from data feed disconnections connections. Although this is the only reasonable conclusion at this point. Disable those alerts:

General Settings Window: Server Connected Alert (Global Settings >> General Settings >> Alerts >> Other Alerts)

Hi again on this topic.

As expected I found out that new instance of Sierra Chart is not producing these annoying alerts that I still can't get rid of.
But I also found out that if I copy file Sierra4.config from original installation folder to new instance folder, then alerts begin to apear again. Is this fact maybe giving you some clue what is going on here? Of course you are aware that this file is also containing all those little configurations that I was customising over the years to satisfy my needs. Building them again from scratch would probably take me days.

So is there a way to keep all those configuration settings, but to erase this file or replace it with another one and therefore stop this unwanted alerts?

Thanks for your help,

Siks

If you need to keep using the same global configuration file, make sure these alerts are disabled:
General Settings Window: Server Connected Alert (Global Settings >> General Settings >> Alerts >> Other Alerts)

And make sure there is no user-defined name set for all of the Alert Numbers:
General Settings Window: User Defined Name (Global Settings >> General Settings >> Alerts)
