[User Discussion] [Locked] - 3/10 Oscillator Histogram Issue

The "difference" histogram in the study of the 3/10 Oscillator seems to be inaccurate. The histogram should fit within the bounds of the fast line movements.

Is there a fix for this? Attached are an example of how it looks on another platform and how it looks on the SC platform (which I love and will live with if I have to).

Thanks!
Rich

The image you provided from another source is not showing the 3/10 Oscillator line on top of the the 3/10 Difference bars. That line is just a bounding line on the 3/10 difference. Most likely the Tan line is the 3/10 Oscillator itself, but we can not say for sure.

In the end, what we can tell you is that the calculations match to how we do our calculations. You will find the calculations for our 3/10 Oscillator here:

Hi John,

Thanks for the reply.

The vertical histogram lines. Should be Green when they are above the 0 line and Red when they are below the 0 line and should be perfectly bounded by the "fast line" which is green.

The tan line is the "slow line"

I've seen it exactly as I described above on other platforms (Photon, CQG, Tradestation and Ninja). The first picture I sent is from Photon.

I have attached photos from Trade Station with a grey fast line (TS310) and CQG with an orange fast line(CQG310). Note that the histogram is perfectly bounded. The way Sierra Chart is interpreting the histogram bars is not correct.

On Sierra Chart the histogram is outside of or doesn't fill in the lines like a kid who doesn't know how to use a coloring book.

Its ok if that just the way it is and there's no fix. But if there's a fix that'd be great.

Thanks
Rich

It sounds like what we are displaying as the bars is different from what the other vendors are displaying. In our case, the bars are the "3/10 Difference" calculation. It sounds like on other platforms the "3/10 Fast" is displayed as the bars.

You can definitely make Sierra Chart look exactly like the other platforms. The one question we want to make sure we understand is whether you actually want to see the "3/10 Difference" calculation and if so, in what format (line, bars, etc.)?

We will then direct you or put together a Study Collection with the settings as you are wanting.

Thanks again for the response.

I was able to set up a study collection based on the information you provided above.

Rather than a Study Collection for just the 3/10 Oscillator, you may want to change the Default Study Settings. Refer to the following:

What's the study setting change needed to show it as the other platforms do?
