6E/M6E issue when using a study

Hi there,

I am making some tests in order to start trading the 6E - Euro FX and its micro contract, the M6E.

For these tests, I am using the Simple System Trading Auto trading study.

To use the M6E, I set it as the Trade and Current Quote Symbol and checked the box "Use as trade only symbol". Then, I did what is recommended in the section right below these instructions:

Chart Settings: Limit Price Displayed to N Right Characters (Chart >> Chart Settings >> Display >> Chart Display Items menu)

and set the Trade and Current Quote Symbol Price Multiplier to 1.

With that, every time an order is placed using the SST Auto Trading study, all orders get instantly closed at an illogical price. In the activity log, I see that the entry price has the format of 1.1465 and the exit price format is 11465.5.

Moreover, through Chart Settings >> Advanced Settings 2, I did also set the current value per tick as 6.25, which is the 6E value.

As a last attempt, I checked the value format of the study and it is set to "Inherited".

If I disable the SST Auto Trading study and manually place my orders everything works fine, as recommended at the link above.

Have you seen this type of issue when using 6E/M6E with a study before?

Let me know if you need more information from my side.

Thanks in advance.

What is the exact name of the study you are using?

And you really have to examine the automated trading system closely and find out why it is submitting different prices with different decimal places. This is not making sense to us. It is the automated trading system doing that.

Normally the issue is what is explained here:
Sierra Chart Teton Futures Order Routing: Using Trade Symbol

However, this is not really applicable in this case because you already have set the appropriate multiplier correctly.

It is the SST_AutoTrading study listed here: https://www.sierrachart.com/UserControlPanel.php?page=StudyStore.

I contacted them and sent a simple chartbook for them to check if they could reproduce this issue.

However, they told me that no error messages were seen on the activity log that could link to some issue originating from the study itself. With that, they asked me to remove all .scid files and try again.

Is there any other settings or action you could recommend me to check?

If you do not have any problem with order entry from the chart, outside of an automated trading system , then we do not see how there is any problem with the relevant price multiplier settings in Chart Settings.

So it would seem as though the issue must be with the automated trading system and the prices it is submitting. It should log its prices in the Message Log for diagnostic purposes.

Ok, not a problem, I will double-check If I am not configuring something on the automated trading system in the wrong way. I will add to this post if I find something else.

Just as a follow-up. The multiplier was apparently causing this conflict with the automated trading system. I removed it, set it to 0 and it worked fine.

With that:
- the Trade Activity log shows de correct Bid and Ask prices in the Order Action Source Column of the Trade Activity Tab. i.e: Bid: 1.14705 Ask:1.14710.
- Also the Chart Stats tab of the Trade Activity log shows the correct daily P/L for the chart in question.

The only issue remains on the way the entry and exit prices are displayed at the Trades Tab. It shows it with 4 decimal numbers to the right, like 11471.00.

I also made a last test with the Auto Trading settings and played with its values format of the Settings and Inputs tab. I changed from inherited to different values but it did not seem to make any difference.

Now, I can use this automated trading system by removing the multiplier, I just do not see how to fix the way results are displayed when using it.

Not a big deal on my end though, as I might just have to manually change the decimal numbers if I am exporting these results somewhere else for tracking purposes.

Let me know if you guys see something similar.

Thanks.

The multipliers have to be set correctly as explained here for live trading:

Sierra Chart Teton Futures Order Routing: Using Trade Symbol

Also:
Follow the instructions here to update the Symbol Settings:
Global Symbol Settings: Update Global Symbol Settings

You may need to contact the developer of this custom trading study about this issue if there is a continued problem.
