Question: Please see the attached chart.

Basically, in the evening yesterday, you can see the chart on the left has started a new day since the new session has begun, whereas Sierra on right has continued to track the price in the same daily bar. I thought the daily bars were based on the session times, and did not start a new day at midnight?

Also, the bar for 4/19 does not match on both - they are very different and I am curious as to why.

Thanks

Should this be a default setting then? I cannot think of a reason why someone would want a new day to begin at midnight.

What I meant was, Use Primary Service Server was checked by default. Should that be the case? I am assuming 2.2.2 is irrelevant since I don't seem to be getting any error and delete/download does not help. I would like the new bar to begin when the new session begins for all symbols, as a default. Is that possible?

Yes. In the case of TransAct, it does not matter what the setting is.

Help topic 2.2.2 is relevant to correct the data error. You are saying you do not have an error any longer.

I would like the new bar to begin when the new session begins for all symbols, as a default. Is that possible?
Yes of course. Same help topic we linked to previously (12.5):

I never had a data error message come up or anything like that. All that happened was last night I looked at the GC and the daily bar was continuing to build after the reopen instead of a new bar. There was no error. Refreshing did nothing. Just now I have changed to the Sierra Chart Historical data service. Sorry if I am confused but it sounds like since the setting does not matter with Transact as you said.

It appears that 12.5 takes me here: http://www.sierrachart.com/index.php?l=doc/doc_HistoricalDownload.html

This section says: Generally there is no need to do a Manual Download unless there is a specific need to do so.

I'm stumped.

Help topic 2.2.2 was in regards to this:

Also, the bar for 4/19 does not match on both - they are very different and I am curious as to why.

From 12.5:

Make certain you have the Historical Daily Data Download Time in Global Settings >> Data/Trade Service Settings >> Historical Data Service Settings set to the appropriate time. This should be a time which is after the day session trading ends. This setting is relative to the Time Zone setting in Sierra Chart. For example, if you use the US Eastern Time Zone in Sierra Chart, then you may want to set this to 17:00 (5:00 PM). After the historical data download occurs, and there is data for the next trading day that has been downloaded, then you will see a new bar appear at that time in the case of the Sierra Chart Historical Data Service. Historical Daily data may not be available immediately after the day session ends. There likely is going to be a delay. Therefore, make certain you specify a download time which is about 10 or 15 min. after the day session ends for the markets that you follow.

So if I set that to 4:45 PM since I am in CDT, I should have to do nothing? (this is late enough to be well after anything I look at has been closed for awhile) It was set to 5 PM prior. Should I disconnect and reconnect or anything?

16:45 should be a good time if you have set the Time Zone in Sierra Chart to Chicago.

Nothing to reconnect.
