Sierra Chart not starting after Windows update

I've had an issue that came up before. After a Windows update, when I try to open Sierra Chart, the loading icon will come on for a second and then stops. The program won't load. Last time this happened, I simply rolled back the update.

However this is now a recurring issue as new Windows updates come all the time (a new one last night) and the issue is now again here.

What is causing the issue and how do I resolve?

After following some steps to disable my startup items I was able to get Sierra Chart up and running again. Is there some way to diagnose which program is interfering with the startup? Are there usual suspects (anti-virus?) and is there a way to whitelist Sierra Chart?

Anti-Virus software sometimes comes up as an issue for starting Sierra Chart. You have to look through the particular software you have for how to white-list an item, but you should be able to do it. The file that you want to white-list is called SierraChart_64.exe (you may not see the .exe depending on your folder settings) and is located in the main Sierra Chart folder (typically this is C:\SierraChart).

Sometimes anti-virus can also remove the file SierraChartStudies_64.dll (located in the same folder as SierraChart_64.exe) and UserContributedStudies_64.dll (located in the Data folder under the main Sierra Chart folder), so you should add these as well if you are making the update.
