[User Discussion] - Finding a way to link to a note from in a chart to spreadsheet or text document

Hello,
I would like to store notes and thoughts regarding what I was thinking on a chart at a certain time.
I'm wondering if there is some workaround possible that would allow me to put some kind of mark on a chart (could be a drawing object or hyperlink or something), that would then be a link of some kind or a timestamp that I can view in an attached spreadsheet or document or other window... anything.

The goal is simply to have a record of my thoughts at that point in time. I'm open to any ideas on how to achieve it within SierraCharts.

Currently, I'm doing this with screenshots and adding notes into another application (OneNote, EverNote, etc.), but it would be better to have something sitting inside of SC that doesn't require these constant screenshots.

Thank you for any ideas and support,
Mike

The first thing we want to make sure you are aware of is the Text Drawing tools, which will allow you to enter text at any location in a chart. Refer to the following:
Chart Drawing Tools: Type Text | Stationary Text

Note that there is not a built-in way to then connect those drawings to an outside program. But, you could build a custom study that would do this for you. If you are interested in building your own studies, then refer to the information starting here:
Advanced Custom Study Interface and Language (ACSIL): Introduction

Or, if you want to look into hiring someone to build something for you, then refer to our list of programmers:
List of Third Party Sierra Chart Study and System Programmers

And you might find out that someone already has something that can do this for you, therefore we are marking this as a User Discussion going forward.
For the most reliable, advanced, and zero cost futures order routing, use the Teton service:

Thank you John

I will reach out to a few of the programmers and see if someone can support this request.
Basically, I'm looking for any way to record long form comments that can be linked to a timestamp on a given instrument.

Ideally, by clicking on that object, I would be taken to the correct cell, in order to review and edit the contents whenever needed.
There may need to be a different spreadsheet for each instrument that I trade.
I'm open to any workarounds or solutions to this!

Thank you,
Mike

The general view of the programmers is that this is not possible leveraging the spreadsheets. It may be possible with a custom code effort.
