I'm trying to use formula 5 on the pivot points daily study but the formulas are not creating the correct results on my chart. I have tried reference to a daily chart too, still not creating the correct results. For example, formula 5: I see on my daily chart that the study is referencing to for the pivot levels, yesterdays (friday 17th Sept) high is 4472.5, low 4406.5, close 4421.5. Formula for R5 per sierra webpage is Resistance Level 5 (R5) = (Yesterday's High / Yesterday's Low) * Yesterday's Close so answer to R5 should be circa 4487, but its coming up with 4425.75 in sierra? Even when I manually enter OHLC it does not create the correct answers, creates 4425.5 for R5. has the formula been changed? Is there a way to check this? Any help on why it is doing this be much appreciated thanks, Nick |

We checked the code and the definitions in the Pivot Points for Calculation 5 are correct, particularly for Resistance Level 5. And we checked it against a chart and got the correct values. Make sure you are looking at the Subgraph for Resistance 5, not for 0.5, which looks similar. R5 is Subgraph 20. Also make sure that whatever you have set to use for the Pivot Points is what you are determining the OHLC values for. In other words, if you have the Pivot Points set to only use the Day Session, then ensure that your OHLC values are calculated just from the Day Session as well. Ah yes duh it said 0.5, sorry about that, staring at a screen too long! That works great now thank you. There is 4 more fomulas which non of the current pivot fomrulas on Sierra have, is there an easy way for me to add these below into either formula 5 or a new one? I'm not very clued up on coding unfortunately. R35 = R4 - (R4 - R3) / 2 //Bear Reversal High S35 = S3 - (S3 - S4) / 2 //Bull Reversal Low S5 = S4 - 1.168 * (S3 - S4) //Bear Target 1 R5 = R4 + 1.168 * (R4 - R3) //Bull Target 1 |

There is not a way for you to enter these into the code, as the actual code that performs the calculations is not available. But, you can easily create these lines yourself using either the Spreadsheet Study or the Spreadsheet Formula and using the Support and Resistance Lines that are called for in the calculation. Keep in mind these are subgraphs in the Pivot Points study. If you use the Spreadsheet Study they will be in the columns past Z where the study data is located. Refer to the following: Using the Spreadsheet Study: Order of Study Data Outputted to Spreadsheet And with the Spreadsheet Formula, it uses the Alert nomenclature, so you would reference the subgraphs based on the following: Study/Chart Alerts And Scanning: Referencing Other Studies on the Chart And there are also the Arithmetic Studies if you want to use those: Using the Basic Arithmetic Studies For the most reliable, advanced, and zero cost futures order routing, use the Teton service: Sierra Chart Teton Futures Order Routing |
