Unexpected behavior? Hiding drawings and dragging chart.

Hello,

I often have many drawing on my screen (lines, rays, fibs etc.).
The following has been noticed over time but now it's become a big annoying to deal with-

I often will 'hide' all the drawings on the screen to see a clean chart. When drawings are hidden, and I use the mouse pointer to click and drag the screen to move the chart around- I will often click on or around a hidden drawing, unintentionally, (fib for example) and then the cursor stops acting as a drag tool. It will have selected the hidden drawing, and any action to switch the state of the current tool (for example, switch the cursor back to a pointer or a drag tool) will delete the drawing that was unintentionally clicked on while hidden; the alternative of clicking somewhere on the screen to set the drawing back down will often move it off of where it was originally drawn.

Any solution?

Cheers

We are not able to reproduce this. When we tried it just now, when the drawings are hidden, they are not selectable.

Can you give us more specific information, particularly what Drawings are you able to select and what tool are you using when you do select it? Also, if you can take a screen image of your Tool Settings, it would be helpful.

This will occur with any hidden drawing that i've tested- Ray, Parallel Ray, Line, Parallel Line, Horizontal Ray, Price Projection, Chart Calculator.

If clicking on the screen to move around with the 'Hand' tool, you may inadvertently click on a hidden drawing- which will in turn select the drawing, and if you move your cursor- it will move the hidden drawing.
What tool settings do you want a screen shot of? Would a brief video capture of this be better? I've tested tools with their default settings and this occurs.

We tried it with Line drawings and the Hand tool and we could not reproduce it. We put a line in a specific location so we could find it when it was hidden, but no matter how much we clicked and dragged and dragged and clicked, the drawing would not get selected.

Therefore, we are wondering if this could be related to a specific setting. We just need an image of the Tool Settings window to see how your Tool Settings are setup so we can try to reproduce the problem.

Another option would be for you to attach a Chartbook with a chart that is showing this issue along with your Sierra4.config file (located in your main Sierra Chart installation folder).

Try it with the Price Projection tool. I just did multiple times and it exhibits the behavior previously described every time.

We are still unable to reproduce. Even with the Price Projection lines set to a width of 50, which would make it nearly impossible to not hit.

We really need a Chartbook and your Sierra4.config file next. Refer to the following for attaching files:

We are still not able to reproduce this with the first chart in your Chartbook. Is there a particular chart that specifically reflects this problem?

I just confirmed that this is occurring on every chart I have through multiple chartbooks.
I also confirmed that this issue is present in the first chart you mentioned that you tested.
Would a video demonstrating it help at all?

Unfortunately, a video will not help. We simply can not reproduce it, and without being able to reproduce it we can not fix it, since we would not know where to look or what to fix. We have even tried older versions to see if it was something that has inadvertently been fixed, but again, we can not reproduce what you are seeing.

It's not that we do not believe you, it's just that we do not know what the combination is that creates the situation you have happening.

I understand.
Would the settings of my price projection tool help? This is the tool I have the most issues with when hiding and then clicking on the screen.

Sorry, tried that as well and that did not do it.

Are any of the drawings copied from another chart?

And you are using the Hand Tool when you are trying to move the chart, correct?

The drawings that are exhibiting this problem are drawn directly on the chart, not copied from another chart.
I am using the hand tool when moving the chart.

Step-by-step what I'm doing:

1. Selecting the 'Price Projection' tool
2. Clicking on the end of a tail of any bar (I have 'Auto-Snap on Creation' enabled, but this problem exists whether it is enabled or not)
3. Clicking on the end of a different bar's tail once.
4. Clicking on the same spot as clicked on in the previous step once more (since the Price-Projection tool lets you offset another point, but I am keeping it at the same spot as my second click)
5. Selecting 'Hide Chart Drawings'
-Now the Price Projection I just drew is hidden-
6. Selecting the 'Hand' tool
7. Click on any spot where the Price Projection tool which is now hidden would have any sort of line drawn- e.g. an endpoint, a 'level' line such as a 50% line, or the line connecting the two or three end-points.
8. Step #7 suddenly un-hides just that Price Projection drawing that was hidden and either allows you to immediately move the drawing if a line was selected- or change the spot of an end-point if an end-point was clicked on, if I click anything aside from the left-mouse button- it gets deleted.

That's about it. Happens on any chart in any chartbook of mine. I can't seem to think of any setting that might be causing this behavior.
