Candles are lagging behind by 3-5 seconds regularly and sometimes they disappear entirely. The bid/ask and midpoint bars reflect the live data, but the candles are severely lagging. When this starts to happen, the only solution is to restart the program. Date Time Of Last Edit: 2013-04-22 05:20:52

Most likely this is because you have Record True Real-time Data in Intraday Charts enabled: http://www.sierrachart.com/index.php?l=doc/IB.php#TrueRealTimeData Disable it, if it is not acceptable. I tried your fix, but still getting candle lag. Now the candles are not drawing at all. See attached pics. I thought it was the IB data feed, but I'm not using IQfeed and still having the same problem. So it must be in the chart program.

Maybe you aren't understanding whats going on. The data is feeding the chart just fine. I know this because have "show bid/ask lines" enabled. The bid ask IS correct from data feeds from both IB and iQFeed. The problem is not the data, the problem is the chart is not drawing the data. The bid/ask lines are basically bouncing up and down showing me the actually price, but the candles are not being drawn.

Yes we do understand. Help topic 3 explains every single possibility of what it could be. Including possibly the Session Times filtering out the data. This could not be a problem within Sierra Chart itself. Sierra Chart Support - Engineering Level Your definitive source for support. Other responses are from users. I have attached another image of the problem. Look closely at the image. When the instrument really starts to move I can clearly see the midpoint(orange) and bid/ask(red/green) move and reflect the current price. BUT, the candle has about a 1-3 second delay. I have been using the mid price line as a workaround for the delay in the chart, but it's difficult to do this real time. The chart IS updating, but not fast enough. The futures I trade are liquid so the candle bars should always be in sync with the orange midpoint line that I've been using. I need NO delay as futures move extremely quickly at times. This is vitally important. Thank you. What is the speed that the candles are drawn? I need the chart candles to move just like the bid/ask lines move on the right side of the chart when in session. Please update the code so that the chart updates immediately and there is no lag between the midpoint and bid/ask lines and the candles being drawn. This is a huge problem for me as I trade based on candle patterns. Watching the bid/ask lines is not enough. I really like SC and I want this to work. I can record a short video of my screen and submit it if would be of help. FYI I subcribed to IQFeed and that did not fix the problem so I don't think the data is the culprit here. Please take time and look into this. I'm not a coder, but a simple fix might be just making the candle show the last sale immediately. The chart can see the data because the midpoint and bid/ask are moving. Again I don't understand why there would be any delay. I really want to use this software. Please help me. The last price bar is updated as last trade prices are received. If there is a last trade price received at the same time there is bid/ask data received, you will then see all of the updates at the same time. There will not be any delay and there has never been a problem with this and no one else is having this issue. There are some special cases which can cause this problem and they would be with Interactive Brokers, OEC, and delayed data. Being that we see the last trade price corresponds to the bid and ask prices in the image you gave, the only logical conclusion is that you do have enabled Global Settings >> Data/Trade Service Settings >> More Interactive Brokers Settings >> Record True Real-Time Data in Intraday Charts. And also we assume you already know this, but just because there is a change in the Bid or ask price does not mean the last chart bar is going to update at that time. There has to be a new trade received which will cause the last bar of the chart to update. In the case of IQ Feed, are you 100% certain you had subscribed to real-time data. Otherwise, you would have noticed about a 15 to 20 minute initial delay with the updating of the last bar in the chart. Please do provide us the video and also provide us an image of Global Settings >> Data/Trade Service Settings >> More Interactive Brokers Settings. There is nothing we have to take the time to look into. An issue like this has standard causes. And as we said we do not have any other reports of this which relate to unknown causes. And we would never expect that either. Sierra Chart Support - Engineering Level Your definitive source for support. Other responses are from users. Try to keep your questions brief and to the point. Ok. Here's what I'm thinking about doing to isolate this problem. I'm going to uninstall everything, delete all directories, then re-install only using IQFeed data. I will not adjust any graphics or general settings. This will eliminate Interactive Brokers from the loop. If the problem is resolved at that point, then it was an IB settings issue and I will have to troubleshoot those settings further. If I'm still getting the candle lag after a fresh install and using different data, then its safe to say the chart is the culprit. I can't stress enough how much I want this to work. I really like the Sierra Chart platform.

OK, if you want to provide us a video if you still have trouble, that would help.

Installed a fresh copy of SC. Only using iQFeed and it's working. No candle delay now. I must have changed a setting in a previous installation that caused the lag. Thanks |
