Hi, was wondering whether you could help me.

a) Do you know how approximately how long you may be continuing to support windows xp as an operating system?

b) I find that I never seem to be able to zoom out as far as I would like on any of the charts. I am using DTN IQ as a feed, and am using markets such as the DAX front month (on Eurex exchange), Crude oil (CL front month). The actual data goes back far enough, but I would like to be able to zoom out far enough to see all the available data at the same time (even if the candle sticks disappear completely, and am only left with a thin line) without having to scroll or indeed move up to a higher time frame - this helps to give me an overview. Is this possible? I have tried reducing the chart text font size, but it does not appear to make any difference. By the way, the zoom buttons at the top show that I have reached maximum zoom out. Any other thoughts?

c) Also, connected to this, when I start to reduce the size of a chart, I start losing data to the left, so have less and less of an overview. Would fixing the x,y relationship help in this context? I would like to be able to reduce the size of the pane whilst being able to continue seeing the same amount of data on the chart.

Really hope that you can help in this matter as it really affects my experience of using the charts (I really like all the other aspects of your charting package). Thank you in advance for your help in this matter,

Best Wishes,

Peter Bertie

1. There are no plans to not support Windows XP.

2. Yes, this is possible. Simply decrease the bar spacing to the minimum. This is documented here:
http://www.sierrachart.com/index.php?l=doc/doc_WorkingWithCharts.html#ChangingBarSpacing

3. We are not sure why we are being asked this. What you see should all be common sense based upon what you are doing.

Hi,

thank you for your reply.

In relation to question 2 - as I stated in my original message, I have already reduced the bar spacing to the minimum evidenced by the fact that the zoom buttons at the top show that maximum 'zoom out' has been achieved. What I am asking is whether there is a way to further increase the zoom out beyond simply changing the bar spacing in the normal manner, given that there is still a mass of data available in terms of the time period covered by the chart, but that it seems to only be accessible by scrolling back - what I would like to achieve is to be able to view ALL of this data at the same time in the chart pane (so that in effect, the little square at the bottom of the chart used to scroll the data backwards and forwards would disappear as the full time period covered by the chart would be visible. Is this possible to achieve with your charts?

My third question relates again to question 2, as I am trying to be able to view as much chart data as possible, and by reducing the size of the chart pane I am in effect 'losing' some of the available data.

I am asking these questions as the charts that I have been using up until now through a British spread betting company are able to achieve this - although they are significantly less sophisticated than Sierra charts, I find this ability to have a constant overview extremely useful.

No, unless you increase the timeframe of the chart bars. Otherwise, how else could this be achieved? Very logically it cannot be.

Yes, you will see less chart bars as you reduce the size of a chart window.

How they do that without increasing the timeframe of the chart bars, we do not know.
