I have a customer that pushed some chartbooks that were created by a different person in to their data folder, in the data folder there is no designation (such as .cht), but when they are in the charting software and go to file > open chartbook, they end in .cht and function. Have you ever heard about this? this same customer has an issue with the files to open on start up, he has 2 selected but only 1 launches, could a Windows update alter this? He is on a recent version of the charting, just updated recently and the files to open on startup worked until 2 days ago

He thinks he has corrupted software somehow because there are other small anomalies as well, if he saves the chartbooks from the data folder that do not have a designation. (.cht) and deletes and downloads all new software, do you think the chartbooks will work if he copies them in to the new data folder?

Any insight would be helpful

1. This is just a case where the operating system is set to hide file extensions.

In regards to automatically opening files on startup we would recommend that they remove those files and add them again and be aware of what can disable opening the Chartbooks:
General Settings Window: Select Files to Open On Startup (Global Settings >> General Settings >> General >> Startup)

2. Yes:
do you think the chartbooks will work if he copies them in to the new data folder?

There are also backup Chartbooks available:

The first issue sounds like this is simply the option in Windows to not display the file extensions. This is the default setting for windows, so when you view the files in the Windows Explorer, it will not show the .cht. But, when opening them in Sierra Chart, it does show the .cht, as that is the choice of Sierra Chart to display those extensions.
