please ignore this. i found another support request of a user with the same problem explain why this occurred: LMAX doesn't allow you to provide their data feed. I'll contact them seeing as I am their customer as well.

For now use the Service named SC Forex data (FXCM). Here are instructions:
http://www.sierrachart.com/index.php?l=SCRealTimeFOREX.html

The only solution to this is for us to support their JSON protocol and authenticate that you have an account first. We will see about this, but it is not something we can get to right now.

Thats a pitty. I hope this can be done sooner or later. The SC Forex feed is not bad tho, if you compare midpoint-quotes it matches the lmax data quite good, although bid/ask is significantly wider than lmax. I would prefer lmax directly tho.

@AndyL: yes, LMAX cust serv basically said that they want to control who gets access to their data and the only way to do this is to not let SC give the feed out for free, thereby restricting the feed only to customers, and the only way to this at the moment until SC implements the JSON solution, is to force users to activate FIX access, which only clients can do.

For the record, we normally see about 1-4 users using the LMAX data feed at a time before we put the restriction in. When we restricted it to the FIX users, it dropped to 2. Therefore, the only other ones who were using it were both of you. Maybe a couple other users occasionally.

The problem is, that it is not a simple matter of implementing the JSON authorization. We asked them if we can do that and then redistribute the FIX data feed to a regular LMAX account holder. They said no. So we have to support the data feed Using the JSON protocol and have Sierra Chart access it directly into the client machine. This is more involved.

understood. am surprised LMAX is not more flexible about this. what is the big deal for them? i mean, seriously, there are already plenty of free feeds. it's not like they would be revealing some state secret. ridiculous.

Not a whole lot of business for Sierra, i understand. The situation might improve if there were no minimums and if you could get lmax to to put your logo on their website as tech provider. Just an idea. Not sure if this is possible, but multicharts, who have these 2 things, do have at least some lmax clients (judging by their forums, i dont know how many either).
