I can get charts detached and kind of achieve the same effect, but being able to run 2 chartbooks side by side would be more elegant & easier. Would rather not do 2 instances as I do not want the chartbooks & settings getting copied and going out of sync when I update the chartbooks.

There is no other way to do this unless you use a second instance of Sierra Chart.

This is documented here:

Okay, but is this something you can consider? Seems like a common feature of charting packages (TradeStation comes to mind)

It is not something we would consider.

It most definitely will not be coming. You need to use a separate instance. That is the only area where there would be further development. We can do further development in that area regarding synchronization between instances but that needs to be done later.

Is there any reason you couldn't use a single chartbook and span both monitors with your respective charts setup on each monitor under the same chartbook? This way they would still be contained within the Program window. Just a thought.

Yes, but it requires me to duplicate my higher TF charts from my higher TF chartbook into my lower TF chartbook. Copy -> inevitable out of sync charts (drawing, settings).

I am not proposing something revolutionary, you know? It is a common feature. Must be a lot of people that find it useful?

But SC has already indicated they won't do it, so that is that I guess, and not much point discussing this further.

The only other information we would add, is to refer to the functionality documented here:

Having 2 chartbooks to separate higher timeframe charts from lower (intraday) timeframe charts does not make any sense to me.
You are not me. It makes sense to me. That's what makes a market. You do not need to understand how I work, think, trade or lay out my charts.
Like I said before, it is a common feature that many charting packages offer. And I will bet anything if you ask 100 users how they use it, they all use it differently. The value that the user gets is unique to that user. Thank you.

@User266903, that's how I do it. 1st instance -> screen #1, 2nd instance -> screen #2.

I use a file syncronizer to keep the CBs/Studies in sync between the 2 data folders (manually, althought you can automate that).

The only real concern for me with this approach is that, showing 2 CBs from different instances, at the same time, doubles the usage of the cpu in comparisson with showing the very same charts from a single instance.

Aside of that, works very well.

Cheers

I would suggest reviewing the information in the link provided above again, specifically the part that says 'Setting Detached Chart to Always Be Visible'.

This setting allows me to run a chartbook for each instrument traded and keep an overview chart from each visible at all times, regardless of which chartbook is active in the main Sierra window.

Any changes made on the detached charts (from different chartbooks remember), apply only to the chartbook from which they originate, nothing else.

Apologies if I misunderstood, but is this not what you are wanting to do?
