Menu links are not working

When I click on study settings for instance, the box that opens up is all grey. If I click on the "settings and inputs" tab or the "subgraphs" tab I just see a grey box with nowhere to input anything. It doesn't show me any values or inputs either.

Also when I duplicate a chart to a new chartbook than the menu disappears and when I click "show menu" it doesn't appear.

A lot of buttons are also not working. When I click general settings for instance, and I click "add" under files to open on startup, no window opens up.

Thanks!

This is a system issue. Restart your computer system.

I restarted it many times and it didn't fix the issue. My computer is working fine other than with the Sierra platform. It's within the platform that I can't see menus or get them to work. The platform was working fine all week until I added 2 new chart books and some new duplicated charts. I started having the issue after that. I also get a message in the log that says "recalculating" and also one that says "file has a volume of 0". And another one about closing the socket.

This is going to be an operating system limitation and issue and can be caused by having too many charts open. Most especially detached charts. The problem is within Windows. Windows has problems with too many windows.

We actually did develop a solution to this by destroying chart windows if they are not visible. It has not yet been released to users because it is not well tested. We will go ahead and release it as a prerelease and see how it goes.

I also get a message in the log that says "recalculating" and also one that says "file has a volume of 0". And another one about closing the socket.
None of this is a concern and is not related.

Ok. When will the release be out? But I don't think the issue is really with Windows because I didn't have the problem all last week with the same number of charts. And even now the charts come up fine it's only with the menu links that I have problems. For instance if I click on the link to open a custom study or to simply edit settings on a current study on a chart then the window that pops up is either blank and distorted in size or doesn't come up at all. Thanks.

New release coming out 2017-9-4.

But I don't think the issue is really with Windows
It is 100%. That is the only possibility.

The release was delayed by one day but now prerelease version 1607 is now available with the functionality to destroy chart windows if they are not visible.

That works now. Thanks a lot. One issue I have now is that the "time and sale" window doesn't save and disappears when I close and reopen sierra chart. Same with the "open trade window for chart" option on the DOM.

If the new version is solving the problem it 100 percent proves that the problem was with Windows.

We will look into the issues you are describing.

Sounds good. Let me explain the exact issue I'm having to help you solve it.

The "time and sale" window comes up when I add it but after saving my setup and exiting Sierra Chart, the time and sale windows for all products are gone and don't get saved. I have to reopen them manually every time.

The second issue is that when I click the "open trade window for chart" option on the DOM, it comes up fine, but without exiting Sierra Chart when I simply switch chartbooks and then back to the original chartbook then the trade window disappears from that DOM. I have to manually add it again every time. Thanks!

I'm having an issue downloading the pre release version. I'm getting the following error message: "maximum numbers of retry encountered. Download canceled. Press install to retry".

Every time I retry it gives me the same message.

I downloaded the current version and it fixed the issues with time and sales and DOM mentioned above. But now I get minor issues with time and sales window, when I click on t&s settings no window pops up. Also when I duplicate a chart the menu disappears and I can't make it come back by clicking on "show menu"

In your case you must use the pre-release.

All outstanding issues are now resolved related to destroying chart windows.

Follow the instructions here to update to the prerelease:

OK we are not able to reproduce this.

Could you explain the steps to reproduce. Are you just closing a Chartbook and reopening it and previously open Time and Sales windows are no longer open? If so, we cannot reproduce that.

I'm opening time and sales windows in all of my chartbooks. While Sierra chart is open, it works fine. I can navigate between chartbooks and they stay open and working. It's only when I save everything and close sierra chart and then reopen it that all the time and sales windows for all chartbooks are now gone. I have to reopen them every time I open sierra chart again.
